Water parks - Thanksgiving day/weekend?

Anyone been to the water parks on Thanksgiving day or anytime that weekend?

I expect the other parks (especially MK) to be crowded, but how about the water parks?

Thanks!

One of the factors that determines crowd level is the weather. If the weather has been cool and suddenly warms up that day, more people would go. Typically when we go I find opening to be the best time to go. We can usually get all the slides done by noon, and save the wave pool and lazy river for the afternoon when the crowd levels peak.

Is it warm eough?

We are debating about adding water parks to our ticket.
I will be watching the weather to see if it is worth it.

You never really know, it might be warm enough. I have been watching Orlando weather for our trip on 11-11, and within 5 days, it was both in the 60's and rainy during the day, and in the 80's and sunny.

This morning would have been too cold for the water parks. But right now this afternoon it is hot. Guess it depends on the heat and humidity when you are here.

We were at Typhoon Lagoon on Thanksgiving Day 2005, we arrived about 20 minutes before opening, and were about 50-75 people back in line to get in. So, we got great choice of beach chairs and were able to ride everything (we wanted) by like 3 PM, it might have been sooner but we lounged around alot and spent time in the wave pool. It was crowded, but nothing spectacular we rode the crusher gusher 3 times back to back with very little wait.

It was chilly first thing in the morning, but warmed up to mid 70's, which was nice.

We visited Typhoon Lagoon during Thanksgiving week in 2004. It was just a little cool in the morning so we skipped out on the shark swim (the water is too cold!) but enjoyed all of the other slides. I believe it turned out to be about 80 that day and I recall that the park started to get more crowded around 12.

We decided to go to MK on Thanksgiving and it was very crowded. We're going to WDW again this year during that same week, but we'll definitely be looking to avoid MK on Thanksgiving Day. I think you're smart to seek an alternative such as a water park. Let's all hope for warm weather!!

Blizzard Beach will be closed for rehab until January 6th. In fact we were just there on the 29th, the last day they were open. That leaves only one water park should that day be warm enough. It's sort of play it by ear. Pack your swimsuit and your flip flops. You should be able to add the WP feature at any time before the tickets are used up, so if it looks good, buy the upgrade.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon on Thanksgiving Day a couple of years ago. We got there not long after opening (probably within the first hour) and while there were certainly plenty of people there, it wasn't packed. It did get more crowded around lunchtime and the bus driver had told us he thought it would end up closed to non-resort guests by early afternoon. It was difficult to find a chair after about 11 am and the lunch lines were quite long, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined.

It started raining in the early/mid-afternoon and everyone took off, but then the rain stopped after 20-30 minutes and it was practically empty.

My advice would be to go if the weather looks warm enough, regardless of rain, and claim your chairs early!
