Last time we went in November Blizzard Beach was closed for rehab. The kids really want to go this time and they listed that as number 1.

How swimmable are the water parks in January? Has anyone been there during that time?

We haven't been but was informed by a Disney agent that the water is heated. Hope this helps.

We've been 4 times the first week in January. Three of the four, it was freezing at night, and cold during the day, never even wore shorts! This past January, 80's in the daytime and upper 50's at night, much better. The kids swam at the pool, but we didn't venture to a water park, too cold for us. Was just down the first few days of April and it was too cold for swimming to me. The days were in the 70's but very windy.

We were there in January and didn't go to water parks. It was pretty cool out. I did see the cutest thing. On the Disney bus from AK to our resort and Blizzard Beach was a father and son. The dad had promised the son he would take him to a water park before they went on their trip. I was really impressed how he followed through with it although it was probably only 60 degrees out. They dad seemed as happy as the son and didn't complain or seem put out about going in the cool weather. You could tell he was looking forward to spending time with his son. It was really neat.

Being from the UK I'm guessing our warm can be your cold! We have swum both times when we've been in late January & once you're in, you don't want to put your shoulders out! THat said it was a very moveable day as the weather is less guaranteeable

We were there the first week of January and we had a blast at Blizzard Beach. The days were definitely warm enough to enjoy swimming!! Typhoon Lagoon was closed then too.

Our only January trip to Orlando was in January 1998 - "ODC"
Orlando Done Cheap...
January 12 thru the 20th - Non Disney(except for 1 epcot day)
We did the US/Seaworld/WetnWild combo pass designed to compete w/disney.........I digress...

Anyway - We visited wet/wild on January 15 1998 and the high temp was 72 F with a stiff breeze...It was warm in the sun but cool - no, COLD in the shade.

There are links all over this site + all the other planning sites for historic day by day temp highs and lows!

Good Weather Luck to Your And Yours!

My DW and I went to Blizzard Beach this past January and it really wasn't that bad in the sun...once you hit the shade however, it was a little cold. But we toughed it out and had a great time. NO LINES!! We did not wait to go on any slide at all, and the wave pool was heated (I think) and pretty nice.

My husband and daughter went this past January when it was in the 60's and windy. They said it wasn't too bad. The crowds were down, so they came back about mid afternoon. They had a great time. Debby

we were there around that time too and had a ball. Considering back home the weather was -19, we loved running around in our bathing suits. We went twice during our visit and was one of the kids (and dh) favorite things.

Thanks so much guys! I was on the verge of canceling, 'cause one of my neighbors said that the water parks closed down in January and re-opened later. Glad that she was wrong!

I know its weather depended. Wonder if they allow short wet suits. The kids have them for swimming in the ocean. :D
