Hi everyone-I am wondering if anyone here has done any of the waterparks in early to mid February. My dilemma is this-we were down for my cousin's wedding last May and it was HOT so we bought annual passes to the Disney water parks because we wanted to go every day and it was way cheaper to do it this way. Now, part of the reason we are going back to Orlando this spring is to do WWHP @ Universal which wasnted opened when we were there in May. I am looking at going in either Feb around family day or March just before March break. I dont want to be lined up in the heat for all the Harry Potter stuff otherwise I would wait till April. Do you think it will be too cold for the water parks? Any advice or related experiences would help-thanks in advance!

Last year, if I remember correctly, there was a cold period during early February. Obviously, there is no way of forecasting this February upcoming. Even if it is cold, being out on the beach at one of the water parks could be fun, if it is not too cold. I would take the swimsuits.

I would say "maybe" but wouldn't bet on it. We were there the last year the last week of Feb and didn't swim once. DS was in for about 15 min.

It was cold last Febuary in 2010 and not warm swimming weather. Maybe in 2011 Mother Nature will be kind and bring warmer weather for your trip :)

We were there the week of Family day last February, it was frezzing! We wore our winter jackets at night! My kids still swam during the day! Pools are heated and us Canadian's still find the day temps warm enough to swim! My husband and I never got in the water, except our nightly hot tub soak after frezzing at the parks! Plan to go! You never know what this year will bring!:goodvibes

Is it usually warmer towards the end of March? We are there March 22-April 5th. I would hate to not visit the water parks. !

Thanks for all the speedy replies-this is exactly what I suspected!

You're from Barrie and you thought it was cold:eek:!! That must have been really cold.

We went to the waterparks at Christmas in 2006. But it was the only day that was somewhat warm enough to go. We lucked out.
Since you are primarily looking to hit the waterparks and maximize that annual pass, I'd say go in March.

It's a gamble. Apparently last year was unseasonably cold. But when we went down about eight years ago right around Valentine's Day we found it incredibly warm. As a result we spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon, hitting all of the slides and working on a great tan/burn.

I have made a few trips to Florida in Feb and have seen as warm as 100 and as cold as 29 in the same week

we went the first week of feb in 2005 and went to blizzard beach and it was very chilly. we still went in the water but it's not a must do for us this feb coming up. even at movies i think we only went in the pool twice and the wind was very cold. the cast members were running around in their winter coats and there were certain days we were in jeans, sweaters and coats too. it's a coin toss.

Last year was not the norm. We were in Turks and Caicos in Jan with 60 degree temperatures and then Disney in March with 60 degree temperatures. And that was daytime highs! But the year before that was 80s everyday. Feb will be cooler. But water is heated at waterparks.

Also, have a look at the refurb schedule as I believe only Typhoon Lagoon is open Feb and until March 20 when Blizzard Beach reopens. we have always gone last week of Feb or first 2 weeks of March and rarely couldn't swim at all. There will be cooler days and hotter days.
