Water parks in December?

Hi, folks. We are starting to plan our next WDW adventure. We are contemplating the first week of December as a possible time to visit. I was wondering if it will be warm enough to visit the water parks? We love the water parks, but usually visit in October.
Also, I heard that the crowds are considerably lower that time of year. Can anyone tell me about that?

Thanks!

We've been here since 12/1.

BB has been closed for refurbishment for the season.

TL was open for most of our trip but closed for 12/9 and 12/10 due to cold temps. We didn't go this year, but it would've been warm enough for us throughout our first week.

As for crowds, I'd call them moderate, basically the same as any other non-Holiday/non-summer week.

Temps will vary from year to year at that time. Was there Dec. '10 and the plants as well as us froze!!!

Would you say that the crowds are considerably lower than in October?
Thanks to everyone for your responses.

I've never been in October, so I can't say for sure.

I did go in September last year a week after labor day which, according to many fan sites, is or was one of the slowest times of the year. The crowds we experienced on this December trip were about the same in terms of wait times, although the streets seemed much more congested. That may be due to the type of crowd since school hasn't let out yet.

This year end of November/beginning of December seemed like crowds were pretty low.

Weather will vary but generally December is for the most part usually still warm. Of course cold fronts could come through and it could be in the 60's. So I wouldn't buy your water park tickets until you're here

I'm assuming you mean the crowds at the water parks. I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to the water parks during these 'marginal' time periods. Some of our BEST Disney memories are having the whole park to ourselves during those times of year where it's 50/50 whether people want to get in the water. I'm talking late October, late Feb. I can't vouch for December.

Usually one of the parks is closed for maintenance that time of year, so keep that in mind.

If it's warm enough, one will always be open.

It's a total crapshoot whether a water park will be open the first week of December. Sometimes plenty warm, sometimes brrrrr.....

How about January? Still too cold, sometimes closed?

It's hit or miss. A few years ago we went the last week of January- first week of February and had a mixed bag for whether. The first 5 days of our vacation the temperature was in the mid to upper 70's and the last two days it was in the lower 60's. When we did TL on of those days when it was in the low to mid 70's, the place was like a ghost town with very few people and the life guards were bundled up as though it was in the low 20's. LOL... But hey, being from N.E. Ohio, low 70's is what we call perfect swimming weather. :rotfl2:

As others said, temps can vary widely. We were there...at WDW, not the water parks....last December and February and both times we lucked out and daytime temps were in the low to mid 80s. But it can often get into the 40's and 50's for the high. It also depends on your tolerance for colder water, or swimming when it's not blazing hot out. Our family LOVES the waterparks. But my wife and I are cold water wimps. So we don't even try to go to the waterparks in winter. If I did, it would be from around noon-2pm when the sun is at its' peak. Other than that, no thanks.

I thought that all the pools at Disney were heated to 82?

While they do have the water heated, not many people want to freeze when their going from one place to another or waiting in line for a slide.
