DH and I are going back to WDW in September using the FT Package. We've never been to one of the water parks, but of course admission is included with the UPH passes. Our question - would we enjoy the water parks, and if so, which one? We're both early 50's and are in good shape, but DH thinks the water parks are primarily for the kids. By the way, we'll be at the BC, so we'll also have access to Stormalong Bay.
Thanks!

I'm not a big water park guy, but I do enjoy Typhoon Lagoon. The surf pool and the lazy river keep me occupied while DW hits the slides. Plus there's plenty of shade!

Typhoon Lagoon is the favorite water park for my whole family. The last two times we've gone there we haven't even gone on any slides, just the lazy river and wave pool. My kids especially love the wave pool and have to be all the way in front. I have quite a few pix of Typhoon Lagoon, you can find them HERE.

I also have pix of Stormalong Bay if you're not familiar with it, they are HERE.

FYI, it feels good to be posting on the TPF again...

I always had an "attitude" about the waterparks. Last September, DW talked me into TL. I won't ever miss it again. I can take or leave the slides and raft rides. But Castaway Creek? We had a late night at the AC the evening before (I think we got back to the hotel at around 2:30 after a bite, about four hours past my nighty-night time). I climbed in a tube and just went round and round.....you can hear surf music through most of the ride, except for the rainforest where the music magically disapears and you instead hear the sounds of the jungle. For those easily fried by the Florida sun (pasty white redheads like me), there's plenty of shade. For sun bunnies like DW, there's plenty of sun, too. And she loves the wave pool.

Not for adults? Perish the thought!

I like both parks. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

I think Typhoon Lagoon is more beautiful with gorgeous tropical flowers throughout the park. If you like big waves, the wave pool here is tops. If you want less sun, there is plenty of shade and the foliage has really grown around Castaway Creek, providing plenty of shade as you float along. There is also the cool shark snorkle pool. The slides are just okay here and the family raft ride isn't worth the effort.

Blizzard is definitely the park for sun worshippers as there is a lot of sun and a lot of reflection off the white surfaces. If you want slides, this is the place to go - there are lots to choose from. The family raft ride is excellent - a must do. Cross Country Creek is relaxing, however, the water is supposed to be melting snow so the drips and waterfalls are MUCH colder than those at Typhoon Lagoon's lazy river.

I think you can enjoy either one. Just remember, if you need a shady spot to make camp, get there early as the good spots go fast.

They are both definitely fine for adults, and I agree with the assessments here: Typhoon Lagoon if you want to relax and enjoy the beauty, Blizzard Beach if you want to slide again and again.

Since we went to both on weekdays in September, there were actually more adults than children, especially since the children there at that time of year are usually preschoolers and clustered around the kiddie pool area.

My husband and I love TL. Floating around in the lazy river is the best. The setting is beautiful. We always do a few trips down the water slides before leaving for the day, although we prefer the lazy river. The wave pool is a must as well. :p

DW & I are both 50 & love the waterparks. At TL we mostly do the lazy creek & the surf pool. There are some "padded" sitting areas where the waves crash against the rocks that we like to sit on, get splashed, & people watch. It's all very relaxing. At BB we enjoy the chair lift & family raft ride, as well as the lazy river & wave pool. TL is our favorite because of the tropical atmosphere, but they are both fun!
