Water parks: Blizzard or Typhoon?

I think it is Typhoon Lagoon that has the big wave pool, and my kids love those. But, other than that, which one is the best?

Is it ever warm enough in December for the water parks?

December would be the prime time for rennovation, and I thought one of those was closed for the winter for that purpose. If you're from a cold climate you might find it swimable here, but I wouldn't get in anything other than maybe a hot tub. We like TL a little better, but we like both parks.

We like Typhoon Lagoon (it has the big wave pool) a little better than Blizzard Beach too, but really, the kids have a blast at both parks. In December though, I believe only one park will be open while the other undergoes refurbishment. I agree with the previous poster also....December is too cold for me to swim. :cold:

My kids liked Blizzard beach better (ages 9,11,16,18) - The oldest liked the wave pool at Typhoon lagoon, but the rest prefered the slides. And they all felt the slides at Blizzard beach had a little more pizzaz.

I have only been one time in the last few years when it was warm enough for me to get in the water in the winter. But I am a big wimp.

BB is down for rehab until Dec 25, and then TL is going down for rehab.

My family thinks TL has the better wave pool, and the three body slides there are great too - they're not killer ones, but fun.

BB has the 'pre-teen' area, Ski Patrol whatever it's called, with the iceberg course, the zip line, etc. It also has a much longer, much better family raft ride!

Most of the pools are heated but it may be a little chilly when you get out of the pool. For the bigger slides, you usually have to walk up a few steps and as you go up the wind will pick up, making it feel even colder. Those from the north will probably have no problems with the temperatures, but the southerners will feel like they have frozen to death.

Although it is almost December now and the highs are still in the 80's so this year may be warmer than usual in Orlando.

Our family liked BB better. Better slides, more variety for the kids. dd8 loved the Ski Patrol Training Camp, while Tike's Peak was great for dd2.

I believe there was only one kid's area at TL (Ketchakiddie Creek). My 2yo didn't enjoy Ketchakiddie Creek nearly as much, as it was too full of bigger kids spraying everyone with the water sprayers, running and jumping onto the (tiny!) slides in front of the little kids, etc. At BB, Tike's Peak was little kids only, so it was a lot calmer and better for those little ones, while the big kids were at Ski Patrol.

The family raft ride is way better at BB. The one at TL was so short, it was a joke, and not worth the wait in line (in our family's opinion). BB also has a wave pool, but it's different and just depends on what your family likes. TL's sends out one humongous wave every so often. BB's waves are more constant, but smaller. dd8 likes TL's better, but the rest of us like BB's better. TL also has Crush N Gusher, which is a blast, and since we don't have a "roller coaster" type slide at our water park near home, it was worth a trip to TL just for that!

Both parks are fun, though, you'll enjoy whichever one is open during your visit. Have fun!
