I need everyones opinion on this...should we or shouldn't we. I will be at WDW Aug 13-19 with my DH, nephew(18) and neice(13). Neither my nephew nor neice have be to WDW before. Right now we have 6-day hoppers, should I add the waterpark, cost $100. I have looked info up about the parks and there doesn't seem like there is alot to do. I have never been there myself though. Do you guys think the water are worth it, fro someone who has never been to WDW before? We will be staying at CSR and I do plan on using the pool there at some point. If they are worth it, how much time do you spend there before you get bored(I would need to schedule this time into established plans).

We love the water parks, especially Typhoon Lagoon. The wave pool is like no other I've seen and the new Crush 'n' Gusher slides are great! You can also swim with the sharks and of course just floating in the lazy river is fun. The only reason I could see not to go, is if they're not "into" water. We typically arrive about 10 and stay till about 2. Four hours seems to be our limit, but we also go to TL at least 2 times each trip and BB once. I also believe that they are offering early entry, so you could arrive by 9.

The water parks are definitely worth doing. Our family loves Blizzard Beach!!

You will be there only for 6 days first time. $10O is a lot of money you didn't say where you will be staying. If on a Disney site you could use their pool.
The first time for the kids you will be seeing everything in the parks and this takes time. If you have extra time and the kids want to go why not pay for just one day only. The cost would be a lot cheaper. Another thing would the kids want to spent all day in a water park?  party: party: party:

It will be HOT in August and either of the waterparks might be enjoyable for the teenagers. Our teenage sons loved both BB and TL when we went. We made four trips to WDW, two in the fall and two in the summer, and each time we planned a partial day at the waterparks. I guess it depends how much they love the water. On our two summer trips we left the parks in the early afternoon to go back to our resort to swim and cool down. We got back to the parks in the evening when we thought it would be cooler. Key word there is thought. :) Have fun our your trip.

We always get the "WaterParks, Fun, & More" option & visit both TL & BB...but we always stay longer than the 6 or 7 days your planning to be there. I'm not sure how many chances you'll get to go over there, esp. if this is your group's 1st trip to WDW together.

You should definately go to one of the water parks. I have never been to Typhoon Lagoon, but I love Blizzard Beach. :beach:

We did both water parks last year on our 6 day stay, and in many ways we enjoyed it more than the other parks (less stressful, I think).

We will being doing both of them again this trip too on our 7 day trip.

We love them!!

We're going the same time as you (August 13-20), with DD (16) and DS (15). We intentionally did NOT add the WaterParks onto our Park Hopper passes. DD likes them, but DS isn't crazy about them so I really didn't want to feel compelled to go just because we had paid for it. I think if DD wants to go 1 day, she can go with her Dad (we'd have to pay for them as a one-day pass), and we'll still be ahead. It's really just a personal preference. For us, not worth it.

I just went to BB this past saturday, I didnt really care for it and it seemed we waited in line more then we did anything else. I had more fun floating around the park than I did with the slides and I am a huge water park freak. IMO Typhoon Lagoon is the one to go to, it seems to have a lil more. (from what I heard from other people complaining in lines waiting for the slides and my husband who had been a long time ago) One thing I will give BB kudos for is their Tikes Peak is pretty fun for the lil ones...

We love to spend time at our resort pool. Most of them are well-themed and some have great pool slides. It is so much more relaxing, knowing you only have to stand up and walk to your room to change for dinner or whatever, without having to wait for a bus to bring you home.

Just our opinion! We have done BB, and don't stay more than a few hours, which isn't economical at all.

We did TL one year (BB always has been closed for rehab when we are there) but would not pay extra to go back. My kids weren't all that thrilled and my youngest, who was 10 at the time was afraid of the bigger slides and wouldn't go on them. Her sister went on them and agreed they were a little to intense for her more timid sister. She would rather use the resort pool and hot tub.

I think it just depends on what you enjoy doing. My opinion GO!! because,We also just took our first WDW vacation. We added on the water park and more option and did not regret it. We did TL twice and BB twice, also did Disney Quest twice. That maxed out our options, but we had so much fun. TL was our favorite, though my ds loved BB because of summitt plummet. There is so much to see at the parks though. We did not even get to see everything we wanted to in MGM, but everywhere else we did. We had a lot longer than six days though. So Good Luck in whatever you decide I am sure you will have a magical vacation and not regret whatever choice you made.

I personally love the water parks(I'm 17 so not too far off from you DNs).
BB is more kid friendly to me...I think it's more for families with younger kids... But TL has shark reef, larger slides...But there is also less to do since it's older... But the wave pool is amazing. 6 foot wave every 90 seconds!!

CSR's main DIG SITE pool is fantastic. I agree with some other posters that you would probably be better of just getting a 1 day pass for 1 of the Water Parks. We have done both BB & TL and like TL better for older kids. The wave pool and shark swim are great. The only thing we found that made BB worth a little was Summit Plummet, the water body-slide that looks like a ski slope, but the line takes so long to get to the summit and it is over so fast that it is a once and done thing for us. It is a rush going on a body slide at speeds of around 50 mph. DS was 10 and I was 43 when we did this. DH passed and stayed down at the bottom. It took SO long he thought we had gotten lost. :rotfl:

Good thread! As you can see, I've been to WDW many times but haven't felt the need or time to visit the waterparks. However, I've always been curious and as I'm not the water slide type person, my DD is. I would enjoy the other water attractions though. Anyway, we've decided to go to TL for the first time this year. We're leaving in 29 days. I'm hopeing it won't be too crazy. We plan on getting there at 9am and staying until lunch.

Thanks for everyones imput. I guess I will leave it up to the kids, since this is their first trip. A few people have mentioned getting a 1 day pass, I can't seem to find anything on this, what is the cost?

The 1 day pass is $37.28 for waterpark as well as for Disney Quest. If the kids like waterpark, I vote for adding water&more option.

$100 is a good deal for four of you to be able to enter waterpark and DQ. I would give up the expensive hopper option. MK, MGM and Epcot all require a full day touring for the first timers. Spare half day or evening from AK day and go waterpark or DTD, you still have two days left to hit the favorite park.

I just think hopper option is too expensive.

No matter what you prefer, you'll have a great time!

We were at BB last tuesday and it was so crowded - my kids didn't want to wait in line after 10:30- we got there at 8 and rode all slides w/out lines . I think it's just ridiculous how many people they pack in there -w aits were 20 - 30 minutes after 10 or so and the wait was long to refill mugs too. It's up to you but I'd think the resort pool is just fine
