Water Parks .. are they worth it?

Our Disney trip is coming very soon and we're trying to decide if a trip to one of the water parks is worth the time. Our 6-night package comes with a free water park option.

The dilemma is I'm not sure if we want to "waste" half a day at a waterpark if we can spend time elsewhere. The pool at our resort (AS Sports) is obviously not very good, but our kids are still very small (4 yo and 21 month old).

Anyone has any suggestions on this?

We LOVE Blizzard Beach and they have a GREAT kiddie area! If this is included in your package I would definitely go for 1/2 a day.

I don't think spending a half day at one of the water parks would be a waste at all! Disney does water parks like no other...I don't think you'd be disappointed and I'm sure your kids will love it. Our fave is Typhoon Lagoon...we love all the foliage and shady spots...and their lazy river can't be beat!

HAHAHA that is half the reason we are going..We LOVE the water parks and we plan to do water parks or pool in the AM and going to the parks at night once it cools down some. I know it will still be hot but any little cool down helps.

***DD slept for 2 hours on the lazy river in my lap last year...about every 20 minutes I just applied a new batch of sunscreen and she was fine.

we luved blizzard beach when we went in 04! it was the best ! :thumbsup2 :yay:

The water parks are one of the main reasons we go to WDW! Honestly, if we had to pick between Typhoon Lagoon or Epcot, AK or MGM, the water parks would win hands down! It'll be so hot, you'll LOVE it.

my family loves the water parks. my mom and aunt could float around the lazy rivers for hours (in both BB and TL) my little nephew is crazy for the kiddie section of BB and loves the wave pool at TL. I love everything about both EXCEPT for the watercoaters at TL. While there in November, my bro-in-law and I went on it, got tossed off our raft halfway down....do you know how painful it is tumble/crawl out of those tubes with the water jets spraying? not enjoyable at all.

Go for it!

TL is more mellow....BB is a bit more crazy.......water ride wise i mean.

DH and i did both and had a great time- not a waste of time at all!

We love TL. Disney's waterparks are much nicer than any waterpark around here. TL is so peaceful with all the tropical foliage. Never thought I'd use "peaceful" and "waterpark" in the same sentence, but TL is a nice, fun break from the hectic pace of the parks. Your four-year-old would definitely like the kids' areas and your 21-month-old would probably enjoy splashing around too.

just to throw something else out there, I believe it was the travel channel that rated BB as the 2nd best water park in America

Go for it. We must do at least one when we visit. Usually both - depending on length of our trip.

Thanks a lot for the response, everyone!

We will definitely go to one of the waterparks next week then!

Going to Blizzard Beach is the part of the trip that DH & I look forward to the most!! Just go in the morning when they open, and about 1/2 day is all you need. They have the best slides, and the theming is great (better atmosphere at Disney than at any other water parks)! Grab your sunscreen and have a blast!!

A half-day wouldn't be enough for us! On our seven day trip last March we spent two full days at the water parks. It was such a nice break from the hectic schedule at the parks-especially for my non-Disney husband! He's not crazy about the parks, but boy does he love the waterparks. He keeps threatening to build a lazy river in our backyard. :)

Just a suggestion/reminder - we usually take a few of our own beach towels so they can stand out when kids need to find our resting spot. Also, during the summer months - water shoes are a "must". Enjoy!
