Does BB or TL have a sandy beach area? My 4 year old son wants to play in the sand at the beach as he has never been to the ocean. (we are spending 8 days at WDW in May).

There is a sand beach at both TL and BB at the main wave pool. There may also be sand at the toddler areas, but I can't recall.

At TL there is sand surrounding the "kiddie" area. When we went last year, the kids lunches were served in sandpails with shovels. We hadn't thought to bring pails, so this came in very handy. Kids sat under umbrella a dug in the sand for a long time that afternoon.

Welcome to the DIS!!

They must have replaced the sand at TL...my kids took most of it back to the resort, in their shorts last time we were there!

This is kind of an odd question, but I saw this post and wondered...

What's the policy on literally taking home the sand? I know that in the past, people I've known had brought back beach sand from their stays in Hawaii, the Bahamas, etc., but I never thought about it at WDW - are you allowed to take a small baggie or a cup or something home with you? I think we'd like it for scrapbooking and memory boxes, but, obviously, not if it's against policy.

The sand is not really sand like you would find at the beach. It is more like teeny tiny pebbles. Not something I would want to take home.

Why not take a day trip to the real beach? Get to see the ocean and feel real sand? Just a thought.

What we have always done to make sure we were not doing something wrong (or illegal in some places) is make sure our shoes have sand or rocks in them before we leave. Once we get back to the car or hotel, we empty them into baggies. We even did this unknowingling at the volcano site in Arizona. When we took our shoes off at the hotel, we noticed we had stones in the crevises of the soles. We dug them out and now we have all sorts of volcanic stones. Really neat to look at.
