Water Park Question

Are water shoes allowed? encouraged? discouraged? in the water parks? I went to buy some water shoes for everyone in the family (I just feel like they're safer and more sanitary than bare feet), but dh said he noticed in the planning video that everyone had bare feet, so perhaps water shoes are not allowed on the slides?

What has your experience been?

Watershoes are allowed. Many people prefer to wear them on the hot concrete while there.

I was wondering the same thing!
Now, here is some more water park questions
1) How do you carry money with you, and a little tube of sunscreen? I am assuming they have lockers available to put larger stuff in, but what do you use so you can just carry a few little things with you?

Would a small fanny pack be permissable?

2) How do you carry a towel with you--or you don't?

3) I have contacts and swim with them (I rarely get a chance to swim though!) So can I wear strap on sunglasses or do I need to get some goggles?

:earseek: We always bring a tote bag with us to the water parks. I bring towels, sunscreen, goggles and a change of clothes in the tote. (We usually spend most of the day at Typhoon Lagoon) We wear our water shoes/water sandels there and back and while we are at the parks. I normally just claim a lounge chair and put the tote bag and all our stuff there. As for our room keys/money/credit card, I wear a water wallet on a neck cord/lanyard. You can get these at a lot of different places. (I bought an inexpensive one at Kmart, but it leaked...not a real problem, but had some cash that was wet for a while...then I got a really good one from REI...everything stays very dry in it...although I don't bring cash with me anymore :goodvibes )

They do have lockers to rent. My guess is that you would not be allowed to wear the fanny pack on the slides, as I know that they say some buckles/rivets and things on bathing suites are not allowed on the slides, but I don't know if this is enforced.

AS for goggles or sunglasses, I would vote for goggles...especially if you are going to the wave pool in Typhoon Lagoon...those waves are STRONG!

Have fun...BTW, our we LOVE Typhoon Lagoon, but we will give Bizzard Beach a try this summer too!

We also brought a tote and kept stuff in there (I packed an empty one for the trip down because I knew we would fill it with stuff we got at the parks on the way home). We bought towels at Target when we got there because we were also spending a few days at the ocean but a lot of people brought pool towels from the resort to the water parks and then brought them back, although they are the same towels that you rent there. I would do that if we went again. We didn't bring cash to the waterparks so we didn't worry about that. No one touched our bag while we were there.

I wore my contacts in the water parks. I brought spare pair just in case, but I was fine and we spent hours in the big wave pool. Just close your eyes when you go into the wave. I also wore my contacts in the ocean with a good size surf that day and no problems.

Whats REI? Thanks for the info

I told dh you guys know everything!

Oh, REI is an outdoor sports/camping supply store. They have good quality stuff; my ds gets a lot of his boy scout camping things there. I think they have an online store too, if there isn't one in your town. I keep hearing about neat things people have gotten there for their trips - think we'll have to go check it out!
