Water Park Question

We are *hoping* to go in October or November. My kids would love to do a water park, which we have never done before. I'm planning on doing a 4 day ticket, with our 5th day at the water park. Would it be better for me to just buy water park tickets separately if the weather ends up being nice or do the Park Hopper Plus? I don't want to be out that money if we aren't able to go. We aren't interested in any of the other options that are included in Plus for this trip. Maybe if we were doing a longer, summer trip.

You've got a few different options, all based on whether or not you planned on getting a PH. These are your add-on costs, assuming a 4 (or more) day ticket:

Water Parks and Sports option: +70.00
Park Hopper: +85.00
Park Hopper Plus: +105.00

and according to the Disney site, water park tickets are currently $69.00 per adult, $63.00 per child (or $64.00 and $58.00 respectively for ones restricted by blockout dates).

So, if you're doing a PH anyways, that means you're adding the + for only an additional $20.00. If you're not doing the PH, then the option is either costing you +105 (for it all) or +70 (for just the water parks). Adding the + to a PH, you'll save money compared to a single use ticket. Either of the other options, you'll need to do at least 2 things to make some of that money back and have it be a savings.

The last thing to consider, Oct or Nov might be chilly. Even if you go the +20.00 route, you might still be out those funds if you don't do the water park. Are you willing to either lose the +20, or are you willing to do one of the other options like the Mini Golf or NBA if you deem it to be too cold to water park?

You may already be aware of this - but just FYI in case you're not - one of the water parks usually fully closes for refurbishment late October through early January each year. The last few years it has been BB in the fall - eg, this year BB was closed 10/27-1/5.

Who knows if they'll stick to that schedule with everything going on, but that's the pattern.

You can wait to decide when you are there based on weather. If you plan to hop on your theme park days, you can add the Plus option anytime before the last entitlement is used. So if you plan your last day to be at the water park, decide the day prior on your last park day. As PP mentioned, whether to do the PH+ vs a stand-alone water park ticket depends on whether you will already be hopping; if you don't plan to hop on your theme park days, I'd buy a stand alone water park ticket.

Yeah, I was aware that one would be closed. But now we are thinking of moving it to November (Thanksgiving week), so I'm sure it will be even colder. I think I'll tell my kiddos that we'll just do a pool day that day and that IF the weather is unseasonably warm, we'll add it on later.

The waterparks are awesome, IMO. We last went last December 12, it was around 76 degrees and sunny. Water is heated to 80 degrees. Because of the time of year, it was not busy and we had a fantastic time, no lineups, etc.

Every time we have gone it is with a free* waterpark ticket included with a package purchased from a certain agency.

Keep in mind- if you do the 4 day park hopper plus- you get 4 days in the parks- plus 4 other tap ins- to waterpark or mini golf. That's important- because you could also have a full park day- and then go play mini golf after dinner if you want- (I think that's normally like $14 a person). You could also do more than one on that extra day where you do the waterpark- you could go to blizzard beach and play a round at wintersummerland- and use 2 tap ins....if that makes sense.

I live here! There's almost no way in one week in November that you won't have at least a day or two warm enough for the water park! And typically, it would be every day!

Actually, I think the "Plus" option for mini-golf is noted as prior to 4pm. But you are correct that someone could use both in one day - such as a theme park in the morning, afternoon break for mini-golf, and evening at another park.
