I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, but for the water parks(Disney and otherwise), how would you recommend storing valuables such as a cell phone while in the park? I have a water proof bag(the kind you wear around the neck that kinda looks like a really thick baggie) for what I need to keep on me, but how would you suggest handling cell phones and larger items?

OP - Flex safe by Aqua Vault (Amazon and other sites) worked great for us at beach clubs on our last cruise, it held several phones, ship ID's, wallet etc. Its made to go on the back or arm of a chair which might not work for you if you don't plan on settling in one area for long but if you are leaving a towel, clothes etc on a chair its great.

For the parks, i won't be sitting on the beach long, but it may be a good option for when I am on Nassau overnight in December on my cruise. Thanks for mentioning that, since it may be useful for other trips.

Prior to MB left phone back at the hotel. Just took room key and some pocket change about $20. Just left it in my pool bag with towel and change of clothes. I was not too worried cash was stolen. I have used a portable safe on other vacation when i knew there was no in room safe It would be large enough to hold phone wallet passport keys etc. http://www.pacsafe.com/travelsafe-5l-portable-safe.html

Personally I try to leave most stuff behind in the car or hotel. But what I do take with me I just wrap up in clothes or a towel and stick in my bag, including cell phones and water proof camera. Just put the cell on silent if you are worried about it. I wouldn't leave it out in plain view and I try to not make it obvious I am leaving it behind, but people aren't going to go around rummaging through bags looking for cell phones. I basically do the same thing at the beach too, which is definitely a bit more risky, but I also keep a better eye on it there.

Maybe someday I'll get burned, but all the money I've saved by not renting lockers over the last 20 years will pay for a new cell phone.

I also would not an issue with leaving 20 bucks in a towel out. I am just paranoid about car keys. We have a rental. I hate paying the insane price for a locker. Wish they had a key drop off that was reasonable

Car keys aren't an issue for me since I don't drive, but room keys are a concern. I will be taking a bus to Orlando the first trip this year, and get around via Uber mainly. I may be able to carry a day pack with me, but not sure yet.

I rent a locker. Ten bucks a pop is worth it to me to not have to potentially replace my phone, keys, and everything in my wallet.

Plus, I have had my towel and clothes stolen off a chair at a water park before, and that was also a massive inconvenience that I'm not interested in dealing with again.

Isn't it just $10?

This. We never rent a locker, we just put things in our towels. Never once had an issue, and have probably visited water parks 40 times in the past 10 years. Besides, as I've said before, we don't bring anything valuable. My cell phone is 2.5 years old and was free when I got it. Wanna steal my ratty gym clothes? Have fun with that.

But if you have anything of true value, yes, rent a locker.

We rent a locker, phones, cameras, rx glasses and rx sunglasses would be a huge issue if taken

We spoke with a security guard at 1 on the water parks 1 year and she told us stories of how many items are stolen from there-she said they can not cover the amount of chairs and items people leave on them or know who belongs to what items. I am happy to pay the $ and KNOW I won't have a problem on vacation. Plus, I like the central local to come back to for sunscreen, get batteries for the camera...

I'd get a locker. I stash things like a water bottle and sunscreen on my chair, but would never leave anything valuable there. Why chance it?

Call it wierd, but I can drop 5 Grand on a disney vacation. but kinda draw the line for a 10 dollar!! Yes that is a lot for a locker rental for a couple of hours. I have never been anywhere that charges that much for a small locker that fits a pair of shoes and a small backpack.

Other than the car keys we don't bring anything valuable into the waterpark. We just keep everything in a beach bag. We stow the bag under the chair and then put a towel over the chair so the bag isn't even visible to passersby. Never had a problem but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that with an expensive cell phone. OP if you can get by without your cell for several hours just leave it in the room. Then all you need to bring is your towel and MB.

This was a general question for all water parks but I do see the point to being as minimal as possible. On my upcoming trip next month, I am doing Aquatica for a half day(at least) and will either do a Disney theme park or Disney water park. My Busch Gardens(Williamsburg) Platinum Pass contract is up in August, so I planned this trip to Orlando specifically to help me decide what to replace it with, since I am not terribly fond of Busch Gardens. It's not bad or anything, just doesn't fit my style. The water parks, since I love being in water, are going to play into how I replace my current pass. I can get to and from Orlando several times a year since I am disabled(nothing that affects my enjoyment of the parks) and have the time. Only real upside to my current annual pass is that I get free tickets a few times a year for friends and have access to all the BG/SeaWorld parks across the country. Got a little off topic, but you can see why I am making the trip. I will have a room, but will be bringing a bag(which I will roll up into my backpack) with me to use for the day and to keep the few items I need.
