Water Park Question--Leaving in 10days

We will be leaving in 10 days for our 4th trip to WDW. However, this will be our first opportunity for a water park. DH, 7 year old DD, and myself love being around water and DD canhold her own in a swimming pool. She is not afraid at all. I am probably the one who wishes she were more cautious.

Can anyone recommend a water park? We will probably spend Saturday 6/7 at a water park before going to the 6 pm Hoop De Dooh. Thinking that the crowd at MK would be really bad that day with it being a Saturday and a designated Gay Day destination.

Thanks for any advice.

Typhoon Lagoon is probably a better water park for a seven year old, since Blizzard Beach has more thrill slides like Summit Plummet. (Save that one for a few years down the road though...it's great!)

Also, get there right at the park opening...it's not quite as warm, but the crowds are sparse and you can walk right on most slides. We usually get to the water parks right at opening and ride everything/hang out for 3-4 hours. Then we usually head to play minature golf or back to the resort to relax.

You're going to have a blast at Hoop De Doo too!

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are both excellent parks for children and you honestly can't go wrong with either one of them. I tend to prefer Blizzard Beach with kids because it's more visually appealing to them, it has the Ski Patrol Training Camp, the family raft ride is better, and there are double tubes in case the child is a touch nervous about the slides.

Typhoon Lagoon has more body slides, which some kids like and some don't. The biggest plus for TL is the wave pool. She'll want to be in there all day if you let her! TL is also shadier, which helps, but I still think BB has the slight edge for children her age and up.

I second Blizzard Beach...and we have little ones. Both are great for kids, but BB just always seems to be the favorite with our kids!
Have fun either way!

Either one will be great - we prefer TL due to more shade and cover

Get there before official opening - during our recent trip, they opened the gate 15 minutes prior and let everyone get lockers/change whatever - the people who were ready were aboe to walk up to the rope drop and then at 10:00am official time, the rope was dropped

This allows you to maximize your slide time before it becomes too busy

We have only been to BB. But it was great for kids. They loved the ski lift. We had 11, 6 & 5 ages and they all loved it. Our only complaint was that we didn't give ourselves enough time.

Our family favors Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon just because of the quality of slides. The family raft ride is great for all ages. Both mat rides are fun and the tube slides in the back are longer than at TL. TL has a lot of shorter rides and after waiting in a long line you want to be rewarded. TL does have more shade, a better wave pool and has the shark swim. But get to BB early, get a shaded lounge chair area and you are set. Just don't try to do all slides continuously as climbing the steps does get tiring. We will be at BB on June 6th!

By the way, DS is 7 and DD is 5 and they love the slides!

I think TL is a prettier place, but we prefer BB because the slides are so much smoother.

We are heading for BB this year. We have been to TL twice, and while we really love it, we wanted to try out BB.

I had a tough time deciding because of how much I love the lushness of TL. There were 2 reasons I finally decided to go to BB.

1. They have an area just for 5-12 yr. olds. I think that will interest my girls more than just slides and the wave pool.

2. TL has a "surf" pool. The waves are a lot bigger than a standard "wave" pool. Last year at Six Flags in Lake George, I had to constantly go after my then 6 yr. old. She was always near the rope. I am fearful of her fearlessness in a pool where the waves are bigger and stronger.

Maybe you can find a site - maybe *********** has some pictures of BB vs. TL.

Good luck,

Anna
