I was considering a small water package, but the ones online are all Desani and well, I don't like Desani. I thought they sold Evian on board too. I know that's what they offer in concierge. Are there water package options on board that use Evian? I feel like I saw them selling it before, but I honestly cannot remember.

They gave me an option when I ordered onboard. I asked for Desani, but they sent Evian. I just stuck with the Evian. So, yes, you get a choice, but who knows what they will deliver.

Honestly, the bottled water has more contaminants than the water from the ship, which is some of the cleanest water you can get.

Now depending on which countries you are going to, it may be best to stick with bottled water, but even if that is the case, almost every country sells bottled water for far less than that on the ships and that is far cleaner.

Both Dasani and Evian have been found to have high levels of contaminants, along with most other bottled water in the U.S.

I am not under the impression that the water on board has anything wrong with it. I drink it at dinner every night. However, my DD gets funny when we travel and the water smells/tastes different. I think Desani does, but I know she will drink the Evian. This issue came up recently when we were in a place where the water went through limestone and had a slight smell to it. When we are at home or on land, I tell her to suck it up and drink what's available. However, she's had trouble on cruises getting a bit stopped up with all the rich food, so a small expenditure to make sure she stays hydrated is worth it to me so that we don't end up in an uncomfortable situation.

I am bringing her water bottle and hope the she will be willing to just use that, but I want to make sure I have an option just in case.

I'm glad you asked this question actually. I've wondered the same thing. I'm really sensitive to the taste of different waters. Even when we travel from state to state (not only bottled water). I personally can't stand Dasani so we brought our own water on our last cruise. Our next cruise is concierge so I know I can have Evian. I really only drink water so I couldn't imagine being on a cruise with water I didn't like (tap or bottled) and of course if it were my kid I would make certain she had water she liked to stay hydrated :)

I agree we always purchase water and not really fur the taste (although I can tell the difference) I just like to have the bottles for convience and refill them if necessary. We have only had Evian.

But can you bring your own water onboard? I know you can bring wine and such....water?

I did last year. I know there are issues if it's in your carry on vs checked luggage. I don't know the current rules, maybe someone can clarify. I expected to carry it on last time, but the baggage person insisted I check it at port cannaveral. I've also heard this was wrong so I don't want to give you incorrect information.

You're supposed to carry it on. You're correct. The porters don't actually work for DCL and there are many people who have mentioned having the same experience and being urged to check it but checking it is against DCL policy. I think it happens to many people.

It is supposed to be carried on. Porters will not refuse it (and may insist on it) because they want a big tip (either don't want to lose money by refusing or want to get more by insisting), but know that if you allow them to check it and it ends up breaking you will be responsible for anyone's belongings damaged by it. (That goes for any beverage you check as you are not supposed to have ANY beverages in your checked bags.)

Yes, you can carry on water and soda in any amounts that you can carry. Lol And there are limits to the beer and wine you can carry on. It needs to be in your carry-on luggage and fit through the x-ray machine at the Port Terminal. You cannot put it in your checked luggage. We were just having this conversation because I too like to have bottled water, not for the taste, the water on the ship seems to upset my stomach. It's happened every cruise. But the logistics of actually lugging around a case of water until our room is ready is not too appealing. Thinking about bringing on a small amount and maybe purchasing a small amount in Port.

I'd prefer to bring it on myself so I could save the money, but it's not convenient this time.

Thanks! I read something similar after our cruise of course - oops. The porter was so insistent on taking the water too. I had refused 3 or 4 times because it wasn't packed in a hard cased luggage, but after he kept insisting, I thought maybe that was their procedure. Luckily my water arrived safely and I was so glad we had it. But now I know for the future :)

Buying bottled water is typically more a matter of convenience and taste than a concern about the purity of the cruise ship water. I buy a water package every cruise, for the convenience of always having a bottle of cold water in the fridge available. Like the OP's DD, my son is sensitive to water taste & temperature, so having a reliably cold & good tasting bottle of water always available helps during the cruise. We take it on excursions, too.

We just bring hydroflasks and some refillable cup/straw combos. My family are all sensitive to funny tasting water and have never heard one complaint from any of them on any DCL cruise. Although at home I frequently have to replace the RO filters every few months and defend that I actually dis whem the water tastes "fishy". The hydroflasks stay cold all day and don't contribute to the giant swirling island of plastic destroying the ocean.

If you ever need to replace your hydroflasks, I highly recommend the new SS contigo bottles. I've found they do an excellent job of keeping water cool but the narrower shape makes them easier to hold for kids and they allow for one handed drinking when on the go.

I feel like I've always seen evian as a choice when they advertise water packages around the ship. I actually don't think evian is very tasty but agree it's better than dasani. I've read they also have Fiji on the ship for the concierge guests, we didn't have enough nerve to ask about it because there was so much evian available that we felt like we could make do with evian but just putting it out there incase it's on the ship and they can put a special water package together for you if you ask for it (you would think they would if it's somewhere on the ship and you were willing to pay).
