Water on the planes

Ok, I know that's not allowed. We are traveling with my DS in September who will be almost 14 months. I have heard horror stories about being kicked off the plane if your baby cries.

Well, nothing makes this child happier than food and drink. So, if water or pop (I don't give him pop really, but if he is crying good, a drop of the sweet stuff stops the tantrum dead in it's tracks) isn't allowed in my carryon, how long does it take to get some once you are on the plane.

Also, will I be able to bring cheerios or cheese puffs on the plane?

Oh, and I'm planning on using bottled water to make DS's bottles. Should I pack a few bottles in our checked luggage, or will I have to buy that in Disney?

You could put some in the checked luggage yes, but it will be heavier for you to haul around, and the crazy one in a big number chance of it leaking. You could try a grocery store near Disney instead.

For the plane, you can take drinks you get after security gates. So yeah you can go to McDonalds at the airport (after security gate ones), etc. etc. to buy a soda or bottled water, or any place like that obviously. Gift shop might have a bottle water. Not good prices I'm sure, but sure you could find it.

I think you can take snacks without a problem, just not liquids.

I agree. You can't take liquids through Security, but once you get through, you can purchase drinks and take them on the plane. Also most flights offer some sort of beverage service where you can get juice, soda or water. Snacks, that are not liquid, are fine to carry on.

By the way, you don't get kicked off the plane just for having a crying baby. Babies cry on flights all the time. One tip, make sure your child is sucking on a bottle, sippy cup or pacificer when taking off and landing. It will help keep their ears from popping, which is one reason they cry on planes. Also, Benedryl can help form getting stuffy ears.

I was just at the TSA website and this stuff is like rocket science! I also forgot that I always have my albuterol inhaler on me. Is that considered an aerosal? Can I pull it out of my purse and declare it, or do I need to present it in the baggie.

I know it's all for safety. I'm not complaining. I just haven't flown since 2005 and i want everything to go smoothly.

Put it separately from your baggie with liquids and declare it as medication (which it is). Make sure it is in the proper container/box with the pharmacy label on it.

I take an empty water bottle thru security in my carry-on. I make sure it is visable to the agent and declare it empty. Once I am at the gates, I go to the water fountain and fill up the bottle. I often take crystal-light to go, or any other single serve powder to mix in my water. I have a dry throat problem so waiting until I get on the plane is not an option. I've never been stopped. Also, you can do the same with the sippy cup, walk thru security empty then fill it at the water fountain.

You can bring milk or formula for babies through the security checkpoint but not water, soda or juice. Accd to the TSA "as much as is reasonable for the length of your flight" You can also purchase milk, soda, juice, water etc after after secrity at one of the many stores and restaurants to bring onboard.

You can certainly bring your inhaler and it does not go into your 3-1-1 bag but it does have to be "declared" ie tell the TSA agent you have it. My mil puts it in a separate ziplock to keep it clean.

Food is fine its just liquids and gels that are an issue. You can bring a bagel with cream cheese but not a bagel and cream cheese separately, you can bring a turkey sandwich with mayo but not a turkey sandwich and a packet of mayo - get the idea :)

Despite the recent stories familes don't often get kicked off flights due to a crying baby or toddler - so don't worry. Its those few isolated incidents that make the news despite the millions of families that fly each and every day.

I love that one! We traveled from Rochester, NY to Melbourne, FL in February this year. DS was 9 months old. I carried enough formula for 8 bottles (ready to feed in 8 oz cans) which was way more than I needed for a 6 hour travel day. The guy at security kind of gave me a hard time but I told him I couldn't put it in the checked luggage because of the varying temperatures the luggage would be exposed to. He kind of frowned and let me through.

Low-and-behold, we were stranded at the airport in Rochester overnight! For various reasons, weather not being one of them, our 10:00 am flight on Sunday didn't leave until 5:30 AM Monday! I was so relieved that I had enough formula! DS was on Alimentum which is a hypoallergenic formula, not readily available at all locations (including airports and WDW).
