Based on the posts relating tales of running out of fuel, I assume that there are no fuel gauges in the boats. Am I right?

Nope. No fuel gauges. But if you hear a strange slurping noise near the front of your boat you know you'll probably run out soon. Two choices then....#1, go back to dock or #2, get a really cool boat ride (Boston Whaler) after you run out of gas.
