Water Mouse Question

Hi all,

Last year we stayed at CSR at rented the water mouse, This year we are going to stay at the WL, my daughter loves these boats, but neither of us can swim. My question is if we rent them WL (where the water is much rougher because of other larger boats), is there more of a chance that these boats can turn over, I know we have life vest on but I would like to avoid the risk and the embarassment of us floating in the water until someone comes to help us. Have you seen or heard or anyone turning over on these boats?

My 15 year old rented one at WL a couple of weeks ago and he's pretty much of a risk taker and had no problems. With him, it's the faster the better. I've seen people turn them on a dime and they're fine.

No Worries!!

I rented one with my DD (age 6) and even though I am a confident swimmer and she a fish in the water, I totally did not want to flip the mouse and end up in the drink.

I saw many other boaters pushing the mice to the limit and criss crossing wakes etc and never saw anybody in the water.

From a driving perspective, you have total control and can regulate how fast you go based on how choppy the water might be- if you don't like how it feels, just go slower.

My 63 yr old mom & I rented one last June 2003 from the GF.
She cannot swim & was very nervous, but really enjoyed it.

This was her first time on a boat like this. She said she would do it again.

Yes, people do push it to the limit, but stay alert & enjoy yourself!
They are definitely worth it.

There are lots of patrol boats in this are if you need help.

Does anyone know how fast they go? We have the jet skis and I was wondering how they compare to them.

We plan to rent these for the first time this trip (4 days from now!!!). I heard I can rent them at POR where we're staying, is this true?

They don't really compare to a jet ski as far as speed. I have never seen one of the watermouse boats tipped over either.
They have a governor on them to control how fast they go. Just guessing I would say maybe about 15 - 20mph?

I think they do rent these at POR. I know for certain they are at DTD, GF, WL, CR.

Last trip my dd (9) and I took a boat out. She isn't the daredevil type but several boaters on the lake at that time were. We were trying to have a fun time seeing different sites from the water when we kept getting cut off by other boaters.

Towards the end of our time there were these 2 older boys crisscossing our path when a ferry was also in the area. Needless to say, we got wet, real wet. A huge wave crashed over our boat and I thought for sure we were going down. I could see this wave go over my head! We did not sink, but we were soaked. My camera that was hanging around my neck even took water in and many of the pictures we took later in the evening were ruined. After this experience, I think it is almost impossible to sink a mouse.

Yes, any boat can flip over....But if you are careful you should be fine.

So anyway I am playing mission control and turned form the stupid little powerless boats and looked for one of the kids in the Lego playground. Spun around when I heard the unmistakable sound of a outboard boat motor out of the water. If you have ever given one power in reverse without locking the motor down you know the sound.

The little boat was gone. Kimball was keyed way up she had seen it go over. Then I noticed a boat upside down, the couple I had just seen driving it were no place to be seen. somehow they rammed the boat ramp and flipped the thing.

The dock hand was taking off his shoes clearly with the intent of going in after them. Then he stopped and started to mill about nervously. He had no clue and was panicking. The boat was still upside down.

Kim has a lot of years of running a community pool under her belt. She has pulled people out. She has a very high level of help out in a crisis instinct. She is not happy.

We are both eyeing the distance to the boat and sizing up cold swim when a young black guy comes sprinting down the dock shedding his coat, shirt and shoes and jumps right in.

Mr. Panic is still wandering about aimlessly. He has a broom and is trying to reach into the water with it. The boat is 12 feet away. Do the math 3 foot arm + 3 foot broom = 6 feet short. His solution? wave to the boat to come closer.

Only a handful of people have any clue what is going on.

Another dockhand runs down, grabs a life guard float off another boat and is in the drink. The two rescuers have helped the two guests get out from under the boat and are moving them to the dock.

They hustle the guests out. The boat floats upside down. The first guy has been in the water about 5 minutes. The guests get blankets. Mr. Panic has pat on the back for the first rescure guy as he gets out. Big help.

Kim is livid that Mr. Panic is allowed to work the dock. She takes a bad shoe pin form me and runs of to thank the first guy in. He isn’t getting any help from anyone but he does find his shoes. Kim gives him a big hug and walks him up the dock. She stayed around with another witness and filled out statements.

I remember I am being radio control dad and check in with the kids. They wonder why I haven’t said anything goody on the radio in awhile but other than that they are cool.

Reedy Creek emergence takes the two guests away. The wet CM is sitting and shivering. After filling out her statement Kim made security call Reedy Creek back and take care of the wet CM. She says he was showing signs of going into shock.

Nice way to treat a guy who may have just saved to guests lives huh?

Is there an age limit on these? I am assuming that two people fit in them, would I be able to take my 4 year old out, or is he too young? Thanks!
