Do they sell the Disney Water Misters anywhere outside of the park? Or is there another place where some of you have purchased them?

Thank You!

Most anywhere sells them. I buy them at WalMart. A MUST HAVE for the summer! The prices in the parks are ridiculous, and usually the batteries are worn and don't last long.

When our batteries ran out after only one day last summer I stopped at one of the kiosks just to get more batteries. When I told the CM how quickly they wore out she gave us a new fan!

Are you talking about the mister fans or the misters w/ a pump?

I just got a Walgreen's paper in the mail. They ahve the misters w/ a pump on sale for 17.99. Don't know if that's a good price or not.

If you mean the fans, Kmart has them for 8.99, and Target has them for 6.99. Batteries are separate.

We brought a fan that sprays water last Oct that I had bought from a discount store by my home, and it broke after the first day. A month ago I bought two Misty Mate pump water sprayers, but have not tried them out yet. Do they work better than the fans? They look to be better made, and I think they do not need batteries.

I just bought my first misty fan in LIME GREEN at Linen and Things for only $7.99.

It's takes 2 AAA batteries.

frannn, I just ordered a 16-oz. Misty Mate on eBay for $18.50 (including shipping). They don't need batteries, you hand-pump them to pressurize them. I remember being in line behind a man who had one on our last trip. That cooling mist felt so good that I promised myself that I'd get one for our next trip. I just hope that I don't get tired of lugging it around all day!

I just bought a misty mate at Walmart for 10$. I LOVE it. I'm sure it will be great this summer. :)

Please explain...Misty Mate? How does it work? Is it a puff of water mist?

Does it really cool you off better than a fan?

Thanks

Yes, it's a bottle filled with water (you can put ice water in!) and has an attached fan. When you turn it on you get the fan going PLUS nice cool water on you too!

When it's the hot summer, they are WONDERFUL!

The Misty Mate is sort of like a personal water mister (no electric fan involved). If you've been to an amusement park in the summer and seen those "cooling stations" where they have a fine mist of water spraying, it's sort of like that.

You have an insulated canister that you fill with water and you can even add ice. Once the container is sealed, you pump it up to pressurize it, like those water gun toys kids play with in the summer.

The canister is then strapped around your waist or carried on your back. There's a short hose with a nozzle on the end. When you feel hot, you just aim the hose at yourself and hit the release button. You get a fine mist of cool water sprayed on you.

I liked the idea that it has no electrical parts and therefore no batteries. You also do not need to keep pulling a trigger to pump the water like you do with those water fans. You pump it up when you add the water and it should last until you need a refill.

Which do you think is works better/easier to carry around, the fan misters or the Misty Mate. I just saw a website that sells the small Misty Mates (10 oz) do you think that would be too small. I hate anything big or bulky to carry around the parks.

Thanks to this thread AND mad4themouse I decided to also buy a Misty Mate (even though I don't quite get how it works yet?? How do you start/stop it? or once you start it, you can't stop it for 3 hours??).

I bought the fan one for $7.99 in Lime green!! I bought it at Linen's and Things...2 AAA batteries.

And now I just purchased the 16 oz Misty Mate on Ebay for $18 including taxes...in purple!

I can't wait to get it!

I'll just bring both (since there's 5 of us) and see which is actually better! I'll have tons of AAA batteries anyway for the digital camera and probably the recharging thing to recharge them every night!

I've used a MistyMate for years, after my kids bought the mister fans at WDW in 1999, and I was not as pleased with how they worked. I carried my daughter's fan with me on Space Mtn. and it leaked all over me!(that was our first trip). For our second trip(and every trip since)< I've used my MistyMate. I purchased it at Target, which was a 45-minute drive for me in, in 2000 for @$20. Now I see them at WalMart for about half that, and the newer ones look a little smaller than my older one. I also purchased a fanny pack a few years ago that has a holder on the bottom for a large water bottle(that came attached to the fanny pack with velcro), and I sewed a little velcro on my MistyMate bottle and sometimes carry it that way. I also have a favorite Mickey Mouse backpack(leather) that I purchased in Epcot that has a "pouch" on either side(similar to a water bottle holder), that my MistyMate fits in perfectly. I wouldn't be caught without my MistyMate in WDW between May and October!

Could you please explain how it works? How do you start/stop it? You hand pump it right? How long does it last? Is there a way to shut it off when you want to so you can go on a ride?

Thanks!

It has an on/off valve so you do not have to have a continuous cloud of mist following you everywhere. Here's a link to manufacture's webpage with instructions on it's use:

And never make the mistake of confusing a mister fan with an ordinary fan.
I did that once: it just looked at me and said
"They call me Mister Fan!"

Sorry! :duck:

Walgreens is selling the pump mist fans for $4.99 this week. ::MickeyMo

I had previously bought two waterbottle fans for our upcoming trip for $5.00 each. One broke after a few minutes of my DD spraying her & the dogs!!

I had forgotton about the Misty Mates until I was reminded about them here. Wouldn't you know, today I was at BJ's & they had them!. I bought the 16oz Misty Mate for $13.99!! :teeth:

One of these will be much better for the 3 of us than the other ones - & if you think about it, no more expensive than buying 3 of the "cheap" ones - LOL!
