Anyone know how much it is (and what is required) to rent one of these little guys??

I believe it is somewhere around $30. for 1/2 hour. I am not positive however because you get a discount if you are an annual pass holder.

The boats are a lot of fun if you haven't done them before. We usually rent one out of the Poly or Wilderness Lodge because going on the lake is more fun than going on the canals around POR. There is a speed limit around POR/PFQ so you really can't go all that fast.

You don't have to be a resort guest to rent them but you do have to have a drivers license.

We're staying at POR, but maybe I will just go to Poly or Contemporary and rent one there instead.....

DH and I rented one somewhere in DTD 8 years ago when we got married. I think we paid $25 for a half hour then and it only went about 5mph, super slow! Then when it was time to come in, it ran out of gas and we had to be rescued. They offered us another 30 minutes free and we were just like :lmao:

If you were both riding in one Watermouse that is why it was so slow....the heavier the riders the slower it goes....you should try it again with each of you having their own.

Now...my question is can kids under 16 ride the boats at POR by themselves? I know in the larger lake you need to have a drivers license but thought I read that it wasnt necessary at the smaller venues....

Thanks.

I think you would have much more fun on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon. There is MUCH more room there.Youy can rent from either Grand Floridian,Polynesian Resort,Contemporary Resort,Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness. You can go full speed in certain areas and it is fun to see all of the resorts and Magic Kingdom from out on the water in the little boats. You do have to constantly be watching for the other Mouseboats(I still call them that-the latest edition is called Sea Raycer:) ),resort water launches, pontoon boats, canopy boats,Magic Kingdom Ferries, etc.:)

Bump. I'd like this answered too.

Another bump.

I have teens that will be 17, 16, 14 and 14 in the summer and would like this to be a whole family event.....only the 17 year old will have a license and I know for a fact that if we put 2 each in these boats it will slow the boats down to a crawl....not fun.

:goodvibes
Anyone know what time they start renting these babies out in the summer??

I see this will be your first trip to WDW.:goodvibes

To be honest...unless this is a two-week-long trip or something.... I'd rather spend more time in the parks than doing the water mice. There's just so much to do on a first trip, that I wouldn't plan on doing the water mice unless you've got lots of time to kill.

I just think it would be a fun way to spend an hour without doing something IN the parks.....

My son would LOVE it for sure. We lived in Vegas for 3 years and always went out boating, jet skiing, that whole thing, so it's something that we haven't done a while and if it's only $20-30, than why not :o)

We have an ADR for a breakfast at Chef Mickey's and I'm thinking about doing it right after that.....hopefully the boat rental place is open by then
