Water Mice--Minimum age?

Please advise if anyone knows the minimum age to rent a Water Mouse boat. I was of the understanding that one has to be 12 years old, which has my 13 y.o son quite excited---but I also heard that the minimum age was raised.
Any help?

After several accidents over the Spring Break...Water Mice Minimum age is 16 with valid Drivers License. Sorry but they needed new guide lines as most younger children panic during an emergency or don't know boating laws or rules.

What is the minimum age to RIDE? I can't seem to get a definite answer. I've got a 6 year old and one that will turn 3 while we are there. Can they ride with an adult?

I did read about the age to drive being raised to 16. I think that's what it should have been all along, though I'm sure kids found it a lot of fun my boys can be dangerous on their bicycles, lol, let alone a speeding motorboat. I don't think I've ever read about a minimum age to ride though! Anyone know?

oh wow i did not know that it changed. my dd and friend were able to each drive last year, they were 14. oh well this year is out. they will have to ride with us.....lol

I am very glad that they raised the age to 16. We were there over spring break (we left the day of a very serious accident involving 2 kids driving the boats). I know that a 13 or 14 year
old cut both my husband and another boat off and the paniced ("deer in the headlights"). Luckily both my husband and the other driver were able to avoid hitting him.

We also witnessed several kids playing cat and mouse with the large boats that move people from the Magic Kingrom to WL and FW.

We saw many small kids riding with their parents - they were required to wear a lifejacket.

My DD is 8 and she loved riding with her dad.
