How does everyone carry water in the Theme Parks?

I bought a funtainer for the 6 year old, but there will also be 3 adults. Is it best to just use regular 20 oz bottled water or find something similiar to the funtainer?

Open for suggestions

Debbie

I usually do bottled water on a Disney neck strap [I try and remember to bring ones from a previous trip so I don't have to keep buying more!] for DW & myself (no kids). Generally I buy a new bottle (16.9 oz. I think; whatever they sell in the parks) at the start of each trip then typically refill it at water fountains throughout the day.

BTW, what the heck is a "funtainer"?

Thanks

A "Funtainer" is made by Thermos for children. I read about them on one of the boards. They are leak proof and do not sweat.

Yea we use the neck straps from our last Disney Cruise. I also have a modified one that is attached to a carabeener (sp) that easily connects to my belt.

We just went at the end of June and had bottled water in our fridge in the room and carried a small softsided lunchbox/cooler that fit 4 bottles and a baggie full of ice from the machine. Even in the 95 degree heat it kept cool til noon. Also you can get free ice and/or water from any of the CS or vendors during the day.

I got a couple of Rubbermaid wide mouth bottles from the dollar store. That way we can put ice and water in them and refill during the day at CS locations. Our Disney sling bags have insulated carriers attached that the bottles fit in just perfect.

Last year, I refused to carry water at all. I'd go to the CS locations, get my cup of free water, discard the cup when finished, then go about my merry way.

Of course, it only dawned on me after the trip that my approach was convenient for me, but it really wasn't the most environmentally-friendly approach.

This year, I think I'll take a wide mouthed bottle and have it refilled at the CS locations - budget friendly, and environmentally responsible.

Agree. Widemouth bottles are the easiest, you can fill them up with cold water from the drink stations at some of the restaurants.

we went last week and would freeze overnight 2 bottles of 16 oz size water and pack in our back each morning. by the time we travel to the park, walked around a little, etc....some of the ice would have melted. once that was drunk, we could refill at water fountain, and add individual packs of kool aid or lemonade (to make that fountain water taste good) and it would still be cold from the frozen middle.
This worked well for our family of 5.
Hope this helps
Kris

It was nice when our kids used a stroller, we pack a soft sided cooler and freeze a bunch of waters and box juice. We'd have ice cold water all day.

Now they're too big for strollers so we bring 1-2 pp in a back pack. Still way better than buying drinks in the park that either get warm too fast or if they come with ice, it's not a sealable top.

last year i bought a lanyard which has a loop at the end to carry a water bottle for my 2 kids.

2 years ago we bought a cute little caribeener (sp?) clip with a special end on it. The top of a water bottle (16.9 and 20 oz work) fits right in the rubber loop, and it is in the shape of Mickey.

We got it in Magic Kingdom, in Toontown I think. Probably around $6 if I recall

Thanks to everyone for their ideas.
Now I have to decide which way to go.

Have a great week.
Debbie
