Water Bottles

So are they only for drinks at the resort you are staying in? We get them for free with our package at the WL.
Drinks are only at the hotel.

You can get free water from any CS place and dump it into the mug, though. But you could get the free water and toss the container when you're done with it and save yourself the trouble of hauling the mug around.

Before Brita discontinued the "Sport" water bottle. I purchased a few of them along with additional filters. We refill them from the drinking fountains. That works fine for us.

This is my favorite water bottle. We've been using them for probably 15+ years (started out using them on our snow skiing trips). It folds up when not in use and works great! Last year I got this one that has an insulated cover for it. I take it with us everywhere! They have 16oz and 32oz sizes. We fill it up the night before and put it in the fridge. When it's empty we just fill it at the water fountain and add koolaid or lemonade mix-ins. Works great all day!

You can also find them other places online (Amazon has them) and we bought our first one in a sporting goods store on our way out to Colorado.

We use 14 oz water bottles which seems to be a good size. Not to much water to carry but enough to last for awhile. The bottle also fits in my pocket while DW carries a couple for herself and the kids in a back pack she likes to carry.

We fill up with ice at at the resort and in the parks we get ice from the CS places. The ice and water at the CS places seems to be filtered where as the water fountains are not. And after the baby bidet thread I try to avoid the water fountains. :rotfl:

I used an igloo backpack 12-pk cooler this summer and it worked great. Drinks were ice cold for hours. We load about 8 water bottles, usually flavored with crystal light assorted flavors. For me the burden of carrying it was worth being able to crack an icy cold peach tea right when I need it.

I'm also going to vote for the HydroFlask these bottles are great they keep your water cold for 24hrs and don't sweat plus if you use the code DIS and get a 10% discount, then when you receive the bottle there is a code etched into the bottle just enter the code online at their site and they will give 5% of the purchase price to Give Kids TheWorld.

I find it cumbersome to carry anything. When I get thirsty I buy something to drink.

On our last quick trip in August, and even when we went to DC in June & it was blazing hot, we were able to keep our water cold all day by freezing the bottles. The night before, we'd take a few out of the freezer and put them in the fridge. Then in the morning, we'd wrap them in paper towels, and a kitchen towel to keep it insulated, and to keep the condensation from the bottle from getting anything else in the bag wet. Worked perfectly. We would take a few bottles so that we could drink off of one until there was just a chunk of ice left, then start drinking off of the next bottle while the first one kept melting. We had no problems keeping cold water throughout the day.

Another vote for the thermos hydration bottle. I got the kind with a flip top lid, you can open and close it one-handed. I have been "testing" it for 2 weeks and am about to go and buy two more for hubby and DD.

After 2 hours in the hot car, it actually gave me a brain freeze!

We usually bring in throw away water bottles. We freeze one or two and place in a backpack with a few other bottles. This way we have cool water most of the day and don't have to spend as much buying in the park. Strongly considering buying a filter bottle to refill at water fountains.

Here is a great product which will filter water from your faucet or water fountains at the parks, gym, etc.

I almost bought that one but the reviews of it leaking turned me off. I ended up with this one

That's good. Not only do you travel light, but your bank account and wallet get lighter each trip too. Excellent.

Seriously? If I were all worried about a dollar or two, I wouldn't be taking a trip to WDW, that's for sure. It isn't the water that is the big chunk of change on vacation!

I don't need water to stay cold for 12 or 24 hours. When I get it, I'm going to drink it.

The convenience of not having to carry the thing around, refill it, wash it, all that jazz...totally worth the dollar or two when I'm thirsty.

If people want to carry around and refill water bottles, that's great for them. Some of us prefer to not do that. If you have a problem with it, then it sucks being you.

Another Hydroflask user here!! These things are GREAT! We filled it up with water from the fridge and added 4 regular ice cubes. We put it in our black suv and parked it in the sun. This was in August when the temp was 100+. We left it for 12 hours. When we brought it in, the water was still cold and there was still ice in it. We poured the water into our glasses and drank it, but left the ice cubes. The next day (after sitting on our counter overnight) the ice cube still had not melted!!

They are great!

Ok....my question for the folks using the filter(s) of any kind - in room using a big picture, waterbottle type etc. My family always gets the runs (sorry) from the water in Florida so we always end up purchasing bottled water which as you all know can get expensive. Does the filter(s) help with this type of "sickness" as well? TIA

I like to bike and hike, and I plan on bringing my Camelbak (camelbak dot com). They have many different sizes/types available, I use the HAWG.

100 ounces of water. Not heavy. No removing of backpack and searching for bottles (easy to use tube with bite valve). Insulated so it lasts all day. I plan to get filtered water delivered and fill it in the AM, half ice/half water. My family has to share germs, but we kind of do already, right?;)

Some do and some don't. I got mine thinking it did, but I think the levels of contaminants is limited. per the info it reduces chlorine, bad taste, odor and heavy metals, including arsenic, lead, mercury and copper.

I wanted to get this one: Stainless Steel Eco Vessel.

Its listed to have Biosafe filtration. Seychelles sells teh same one, but $35 for either was slightly more than I wanted to spend. My tummy is fairly durable.

This is info from Seychelle's website, which is the same as Amazon's Eco Vessel.

The Ionic-Adsorption Micro-Filtration System is an entire water filtration plant within a portable bottle. The patented Ionic-Adsorption Micro-Filtration reduces up to 99.99% of the following zones of contamination:

  • Aesthetics: unpleasant taste, odor, clarity, chlorine, dirt, sediment and Chlorine.
  • Chemicals: toxic chemicals, detergents, pesticides and other harmful industrial and agricultural wastes.
  • Dissolved Solids: heavy metals such as aluminum, asbestos, copper, lead, mercury, chromium 6 and others.

I'm looking to get those things that hold the water bottle...Anybody know where you can get em?

When you get to Orlando, go to Publix or Walmart they sell the bottle and holder as seen in the picture. Around $4. I fill mine up at the ice machine on my way out to the parks. I stuff it with it till it can't take any more ice and then top off with water. it lasts most of the morning.

Are you allowed to take water bottles on rides, assuming that they are in some way attached to you (with a bag/strap like the picture up-thread, or a caribeaner) and not just held in your hand? DH thinks they would not be allowed due to the 'projectile' issue. Our kids are past stroller stage so we are planning on touring with just a fanny pack each. However, I don't think the fanny packs are big enough to fit the water bottle *inside* them. If we can't take them on rides, what should we do? TIA!

well as a scouter i like to use a nalgene water bottle and hook it to me with a carabiner
my son and neice just reuse a bottled water water bottle
