Water & Backpacks

This will be our 4th trip to the World this September and my DS are 13 and 11. In years past, I have this awesome Addidas backpack that I carry the essentials and two water bottles in the side compartments. I am thinking of downgrading the backpack, but wanted something that could hold our water bottles (even if its 4 bags for each family member). Any suggestions?

We have a CamelBack backpack so we have the best of both- it has a built-in 'bladder' we would fill at the hotel with cold water and ice, and share it throughout the day. Less messing with water bottles, more organized, and less to carry.

Another Camelbak fan . We bring the big one for the four of us, fill it up in the morning before we leave our reset (keep bottled water in the fridge), and refill it early afternoon. Our kids are getting old enough that we'll probably get them their own smaller Camelbaks next year. Yes, the water makes it a bit heavy, but as we drink, it obviously gets lighter. Also, having that bladder filled with cold water against my back feels good!

For our last trip I got a bag at Walmart, in the camping section, that was great. It's basically a large fanny pack with a water bottle holder on each side. I've seen similar ones at sporting goods stores also. The main compartment is big enough to hold wallet, small/med size camera, cell phone, and some odds and ends. You could even fit some of the really small emergency ponchos in there if you wanted, the tiny ones. The bottle holders are deep enough that I didn't have any problem with them falling out or anything. It was comfortable and easy to wear.
