Watching Sound of Music

it is a step in the right direction that you are willing to admit it. there are 12 step programs available.

One of my favorites and I sing along to every song :)

It is my ultimate favorite movie- love Wizard of Oz too!!
But I never get tired of watching The Sound of Music!

:)

I always thought that von Trapp was rather lecherous in picking a young, virginal postulant as his 2nd wife. :confused3 I never could get past this so I never, ever enjoyed the story. I know--I'm weird:goodvibes

we not only know all of the words to the songs - but the words themselves - it's the best of all times - romance - music - war - rogers and hammerstein at their best

Watching with my DD10. She loves it! It is amazing how much more I understand now that I am the grown up!:rotfl:

I watched it too. I'm just loving the great movies on ABC and ABC Family lately. If only they'd keep it that way.

It's funny how I own the DVD to the movie, yet I only watch it when it's on live TV!

We started watching, and then decided we really need to buy the DVD.

I first saw it during a re-release in the early 70's in the an actual theater on the big screen. I got in trouble in math class in junior high because I was reading the book "The Von Trapp Family Singers." :rotfl: I have the movie on DVD (of course). I've seen it innumerable times. And yet I always find myself watching it whenever it's on TV during the holiday season - commercials and all.:lovestruc

I do the same thing.

There's a certain thrill watching it and knowing that so many other people across the country are watching at the same time, too.

Glad to see they've finally improved the aspect ratio ! It's still not the full 2.35:1 image, but it's sure better then that gosh-awful 'pan and scan' copy they used to air.

I guess enough folks have gotten used to "them black bars" on the screen. ;)

(Sorry. Nerdy videophile side is showing. :upsidedow)

I may be totally naive here, but there is a book for this??

Yes. It is based upon a true story. The musical version is of course quite different, i.e., all accounts indicate that Captain Von Trapp really wasn't such a nice man - even after he married Maria - but the whole thing is based upon the book and the true story of the family's escape from the Nazis during WWII.

I believe that some of the Von Trapp descendents are still performing as the Von Trapp Family Singers(?) I think they used to have an inn or B&B or something. Maybe someone else can fill in the details there.
