One thing I'd really like to do is watch the fireworks from the Poly..
If we are staying offsite, how should we arrange this ? We'd be going on a non-park day, so I'm thinking I'd have to pay the $12 for parking at MK, then tram to TTC and Monorail to Poly. ?:thumbsup2

Thoughts ??:rolleyes1

Also, I'd like to enjoy an adult beverage on the beach too; do I have to be a resort guest to buy there and can I bring it out with me ???

TIA

Haven't done it yet...that is our plan to do too in June when we are there. From what I've been told on these boards, anyone can go there. You just pay your parking fee and go to the TTC. You don't need to monorail though. Supposedly, it is only a very short walk (less than five minutes) to the beach at Poly. I know too that you don't need to be a resort guest to go into there bar for a drink. I don't know though about taking it out to the beach.

Several ways you can do this. One is as marius97 mentioned, just park at TTC and walk over, or if you're at MK, take a resort monorail and get off at the Poly stop. What we have done before is made a reservation at one of the restaurants at the Poly (Kona Cafe is our favorite!) and then stroll along the Seven Seas Lagoon after dinner and find a couple open beach loungers to settle into for fireworks.

We never stay on site anymore but always go to the Poly to watch the fire works. We park at the Poly for free. Just tell them that you are going to eat at Kona's or Ohana's. We then get a drink out by the pool and find some lounge chairs on the beach. The music is piped in at the beach. You also have a great seat for the electric light water parade.:thumbsup2

We did this several years ago - were staying offsite and went to the Polynesian our first night to see the fireworks and EWP from the beach. It was great - had no problems parking there for free even without a dinner reservation (altho that could have changed). The only issue we had was that DH's feet and ankles got eaten up by some sort of bug - sand fleas maybe? He was pretty itchy and uncomfortable all week. You may be lucky and not run into that problem - I don't think I've ever seen anyone else mention it. But it might be a good idea to have some sort of ointment on hand for bug bites, just in case.

we stayed at the Poly last year for Halloween and it was our favorite thing to do is swim in the pool or sit in the lounge chairs and watch the fireworks. I would also park at the TTC. 5 minute walk to just about anywhere at the Poly. If your plans change and you are at MK that day, PLEASE take the boat ride from MK to the Poly. It is awesome. Another one of our favorites....

wow, I love the Poly! Have fun!

I have GOT to add this to our itinerary! :yay: We are also offsite.

Thanks Zoebear for starting this thread. Now I know why I read these boards!

I try to get to O'Hana's most trips. It is my fav so I like to treat myself for all the work I get done while down.

We spend a lot of time on their beach. I think it is so romantic even with our kids all around.

You can park for free. Tell the guard you are there to check out the scenery. Many of the hotels will ask for your ID. The only one we couldn't get into without a reservation was the campgrounds.

When you see the guard at Poly, you will recive a 3 hour parking pass. They have a list of ADR's with them, but we have never had any problem gaining access to any of the monorail resorts (and WL). For example, we were going to Chef Mickey's as a walkup, told them so at Cont gate, showed my ID, and no problems.

One hint though: Use the farthest open main gate parking entrance to the right. When you drive to Poly, you will have to take the right fork in the road. If you enter the gate way to the left, it's not fun getting all the way over to the right. Tell them the same thing, that you are going to Poly for dinner, and they should not charge you parking.

We did this a few weeks ago and loved it. We stayed off site, drove to the poly and said we want to watch the fireworks. I had to show id, and didnt get any time limit to park. Walked around the beach and found some empty chairs. It was so much fun and i cant wait to do it again.

Thanks to all who posted - I too enjoyed the discussion ! Can't wait to do this in real life. I think we're going to go on our first full day there - it is a non-park day to get groceries, swim etc, but I think it will start the magic off nicely for us . Must remember to get there in time for the water parade too !mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum
