Has anyone been lately? I am wondering where would be a good place to watch the Electric Water Pageant in mid September. My husband is celebrating his 50th birthday at WDW and he has always wanted to see it since he was a child.
I've heard the beach at Poly is good, but I've also heard rumors non-guests can't go on the beach anymore.
Suggestions?

You can see the electric water pageant from any 'MK View' room in the MK resort loop. If he really wants to see it, maybe you could make a reservation for dinner at a restaurant at the Poly, like Ohana or Kona Cafe, and then go down to the beach and watch the pageant. I don't believe the security guards let non poly guests in anymore unless they have a dining reservation.

If you don't want to/can't get a dinner reservation, you could always park at the TTC and take the express monorail to MK, get off at MK and switch onto the Resort monorail and get off at the Poly. It's a lot of work, but you would definitely get into the poly with no questions asked.

Good Luck!

The Poly used to be the best, but with the addition of the bungalows, that has changed. Our second favorites are WL and FW. There are large viewing areas at both places to enjoy the show. Just get there early enough to pick yourself up a nice adult beverage and enjoy some quality time on the beach.

I love watching from Narcooses at GF. Get a late dinner reservation, the water Pagent boats go right by the deck, music is piped in from Wishes! And you can usually see Illuminations as well.

If staying at the Contemporary (park view room) will our room be the best spot? Or is there another good spot? (Sorry to hi-jack)

If you want to catch Wishes and the Water Pageant, I'd highly suggest the beach at Fort Wilderness. They pipe the music for the fireworks in to the boat dock, that time of the year won't be super crowded, and it's one of the most up close and personal places you can watch the water pageant (in my opinion.)

Bonus tip, make a reservation for Trails End at FW and have dinner before. It's one of the best buffets on property (again, in my opinion.)

Happy birthday to your husband and hope you both have a great time! We'll be down there staying at FW ourselves from 9/14-9/20 for our 6yr wedding anniversary.
