Interesting point(s) Keli!
I realize now that I was thinking of the broader/universial definition of treason which includes any kind of subversive activities against one's state or government or king, etc.
But the definition that would apply here is the more narrow one defined in our Constitution which defines treason as only levying war against the United States or giving aid and comfort to its enemies. . .
As to your second point. . since the Federal government has the constitutional right to. .
"(call) forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; " and states must have the approval of congress to declare war or even have a standing army, I'd say that reality isn't going to change anytime soon. . LOL!!
As far as this guy and his "movement" . . . perhaps refering to him as a clown was bit harsh- I ent back and read the site a little closer and he has put together a pretty slick message, and even though I disagree with many of his postitons, he avoids many of the standard deceptions many groups of this type regularly use (one example: if you read close you'll notice he never refers to the constitution as a "Christian" or "Christian-inspired" document like so many conservative Christian figures do- he calls it "Godly-inspired" by "Natural law"which rightly decribes the Deist ideas the majority of the more influential Founding Fathers embraced and based it on.)
On the other hand refers to anyone who disagrees with his specific view of what Christianity is and how the government should be ran as the "immoral citizenry" and the "Godless electorate" he and the "real Christians" who will follow him must divorce themselves from. . . and to say he/they want to go "back to a Constitutional-based government" that is "based in Christian values" is pretty much impossible since the Constitution is based on Deist principles not Christian ones. .
Oh well. . I also read their discussion boards (took about 20 minutes to read all the posts there) and they seem like sincere and decent people for the most part. . .
Oh, and I'm curious. . since three of the major religions in the world follow the Ten Commandments (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) and we have freedom of religion is this country, what exactly is preventing all of us from folllowing them now? And how would being able to post huge monuments of them in government buildings get those who don't now to do it then?
