Day 4: Drinks, More Drinks & Glow-in-the-Dark Tinks…

Our joint vote was for another leisurely start to the day. I did a little laundry and Claire made her first attempt to pack her ever-growing plethora of purchases. Good luck with that, Claire… ;)

Yep well it wasn't long before realised that I needed to buy an extra case or holdall.....so gave up fairly quickly.

The plan was to catch the monorail to EPCOT for an early lunch and that's what we did. We arrived in EPCOT to super searing heat and substantial Soarin' wait times. Ah well, what're ya gonna do..? Why, have a few Photopass pics taken of course!!!

The queue for Spaceship Earth was winding around the golfball so we turned right and popped into the Art of Disney store where we browsed the Vinylmatian figures. After a brief discussion, I persuaded Claire that it made super-financial sense (remember that 20% AP discount) to purchase not one, not two but the WHOLE box of Park #4 figures!!! No laughing, please!!! We both coveted the Disney Cruise Line figure and wanted to be guaranteed to get them SO buying the box seemed a foolproof way of achieving this. It was a sound decision and I stand by it to this day… Honest…

It's just a shame that "Not so Klever Karen" didn't come up with this idea before I'd already bought several of them in the search for the coveted DCL one!! :rolleyes1 Oops... :teeth:

We then opted for a not-so-quick bite at the Electric Umbrella... That's an understatement, it was absolutely heaving!! ....before staggering back out and heading towards the World Showcase… We strolled around, finally stopping in Italy and watching the mime artist…

…whilst sipping the obligatory Rosa Regale… YAY!!! Mmmmmmm my first taste of the delicious Rosa Regale, it certainly wasn't my last though. ;)

P1070982.jpg

Refreshed (albeit briefly) we continued our journey. These guys were working up sweat!!! So were we - it was SOOOO hot!!!

P1070983.jpg

Whereas, we felt the need to raise another glass in la Belle France - à votre santé!!! Cheers!

P1070990.jpg

We approached Canada and watched Off Kilter belt out a few numbers…

P1070997.jpg

I pushed some children out of the way and Claire obligingly snapped a pic… Yeah, you did - bully! :lmao:

It was at this point that we realised we had HOURS to kill before our evening ADR at Le Cellier!!! I looked rather helplessly back towards the teeming World Showcase, knowing I needed to escape the hoards. Suddenly, Clever Claire popped up with one her infrequent but always valued pearls of wisdom. "Let's go to Hollywood Studios!" ...See I'm not just a pretty face! :rotfl: No, darling you're not... Anyway, before you could say 'Fantasmic!' we had turned on our heels and headed out of the park. Not before embracing a photo opportunity with the main Duck… These are my favourite photopass pics...

A Friendship was waiting and we relaxed as it made it's leisurely way along the water to Disney's Hollywood Studios… I don't quite know why, but I wasn't actually expecting it to be JUST as hot and JUST as busy at DHS. Suffice to say, I wasn't and it was!!! :headache:

Continued below...

That's when Clever Claire put in her second appearance, "Let's go to the Tune-In Lounge!" The where??? I had never heard of this establishment and truth be told, doubted it's very existence - especially when she directed me to the most discreet of doorways in the wall next to the 50's Prime Time Cafe. It didn't even look open so I pulled at the door quite tentatively… Oh my!!! What greeted me was a waft of cool air-conditioned air and a welcoming bar with plenty of available stools… I'd arrived in Nirvana!!! ...See I'll say it again, I'm not just a pretty face. And once more I'll agree - you really aren't a pretty face...

We danced across to the bar and were warmly greeted by the divine Dave… OK, I confess that I have the tendency to fall ever-so-slightly in love with any man who serves me drinks and Dave  was at the top of his game!!! He was such a fab friendly guy. ::yes:: Claire and I both chose a Grandma's Picnic Punch and they were so delicious, I felt all the sweat on my upper lip evaporate in an instant…

We hadn't been there too long when there was a slight commotion behind and two guys entered. Let me introduce you to Mr. Shelby Mayer and Melvin Macheezmo! (I inserted a couple of links to their studio central pages here but there seems to be a problem with the site...?) They breezed in and were promptly served with a couple of diet cokes by Dave… They proceeded to move around the bar and strike up loud, hilarious conversations - did I mention they were loud - with all and sundry. And yes, that included us!!! We probably spent the best part of twenty minutes swapping banter with Mr Mayer whilst dear sweet Melvin made eyes at Claire!!! I haven't laughed so much in ages, they were soooo funny & definitely one of the highlights of the trip. It wasn't long before the entire bar was laughing at us (WITH us, Claire! WITH us!!!) ...as they were referring to as "Broads" and as I tried to defend British men!!! :lmao:

I am gutted that we didn't get Dishy Dave to take a picture of the four of us together. I'm gutted I didn't get his number...

It was absolutely brilliant fun and a real unprecedented treat. And once they'd left, we threw caution to the wind and ordered another Punch. As we'd already had your common or garden glow cube, Dave  decorated our drinks with these pretty Tinks…

P1080014.jpg

Unfortunately, there wasn't time for a third (which was a bitter blow as I really wanted to complete the set with glowing Buzz Lightyear ) so we said our goodbyes to Dave  and ran to the Friendship which was moored ready to carry us back to Epcot…

We hardly had any wait at Le Cellier and were soon seated a table for two. I was really looking forward to your first taste of Le Cellier. Drinks-wise, we were on a roll so ordered a bottle of Domaine Ste Michelle - yummy!!! Boring wine fact alert: Did you know that in a blind tasting, more than 70% of tasters prefer this fizzy wine to top end champers..? Cheers!!! Well, it went down pretty fast so I can confirm it was very palatable.

The menu looked good and, as a Le Cellier virgin, I took time making my choices. Are you ready for some Food Porn??? Oh, go on then…

Karen's starter: Duck Three-Ways - Confit, Rillette, and Fleischnecke with Orange Gastrique.

P1080019.jpg

Claire's starter: Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and Smoked Bacon.

P1080018.jpg

Karen's main course: King Salmon Two Ways - Pan-seared and poached served with a fried brown rice tempura roll.

P1080021.jpg

Claire's main course: Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce.

P1080020.jpg

Karen's dessert: Maple Creme Brulee.

P1080023.jpg

Claire's dessert: Seasonal Sorbet, which was peach sorbet with peanut brittle.

P1080022.jpg

Stuffed, we made our way back through EPCOT and had a couple of Photopass photos taken in the twilight…

Photo0163.jpg

Spaceship Earth looked very dramatic…

P1080026.jpg

We hopped on the monorail which took us back to the Contemporary Resort where we browsed the hotel stores and Claire took the opportunity to purchase THE most gorgeous WDW pin pic.. I sure did, I had been eyeing it up since we arrived - however it wasn't such a great idea at a later date when I discovered it was too big to fit in my suitcase & had to bring it home as hand luggage! Grrrr....

P1080534.jpg

It was almost time for the Summer Nightastic fireworks to begin so we hurried back to our 'home away from home' and watched them from our balcony for a change....

…Before saying goodnight and going to bed.

I ended up sitting on the side of the bath soaking my swollen foot for about half an hour before going to bed....why is it always me??? Poor thing - your foot looked SO sore...

Coming up - Clever Claire reveals all about Day 5!!!

Another great day girls. Glad you enjoyed the Rosa Regale Claire, it's absolutely delish ::yes:: More fab photos, especially the photopass ones with Donald :thumbsup2

Also, how gorgeous did your food at Le Cellier's look:upsidedow delicioso!!!

Can't wait for day 5 :yay:

I'm astounded girls...I've heard of some people drinking their way around the World Showcase...forget that with Claire and Karen - we'll just drink around the WHOLE of Walt Disney World instead :rotfl2:

Im making a mental note there is a bar there who knows I may just get to sneek off and find it

...is the style they will be using on the Disney Dream in "Pink".

.

Great day girls and love your photos especially the Donald ones. A WDW visit with a good pal looks so much fun.

I never knew about the bar at DHS, so glad it was busy at Epcot and you headed over there or I would never have known about it.:thumbsup2

Just so you guys know what you're looking for, here are a couple of pics of the Tune-In Lounge...

Note the very subtle entrance...

And the plentiful bar stools...

I remember going to the tune in lounge, but don't remember those guys. :)

Sounds like another great day. :)

Karen, you are not the first to fall for the charms of Dear Dave. There is a young lady (by the name of Marcia) who is also madly in love with him so I fear you may have competition, my lovely. The duck appetiser at Le Cellier did look mighty good, although not quite as delicius as my all-time favourite, the Duck Two Ways - much, much more appetising.

Another great day Ladies - Claire, I love that pic :thumbsup2

Loving your TR so far and that it is filled with so many brilliant pictures :D

You girls do make me laugh looking forward for the next bit

What a fabulous day. I had the same main at Le Cellier as you Claire ~ it was divine. :cloud9:
