Wow, my head is spinning with all the different ideas for your trip! I usually wait until hours come out before I start picking each park so I can plan around EMHs. I think whatever you do you will have a wonderful time!

That's a good plan! MNSSHP will hopefully not happen on your Day 2 then, because I am sure they wont do that event on a party night right? Where did you hear Tuesdays & Fridays are party nights? Is that a thing? On my lines app it predicted some days it will be held but they weren't tues/fri and I saw last year there were some nights where it was held two days in a row... just curious what you heard!

I looked at past party dates and shows Tuesday and Fridays so i am working off of historic dates. I do believe later in the month they do add more days. Disney will probably throw a curve ball at me and change it all..
I have no idea if they will have the party or not on the same day as MNSSHP.. BUT if that does happen i can skip the dessert party all together and just do the party! maybe let the kids do the pirate cruise.
I highly doubt this will happen.. yet it would free up a day at MK...

And no, were not doing MNSSHP twice, just once but we will go to MK on another day the party is being held and leave early and use that as our DTD night I think. Again, just waiting, rather impatiently, for the official schedule to be released!!

I just read that on your PTR! same as you sitting here IMPATIENTLY wait for some dates to come out... I may have to call Disney today for some more questions an pricing! it's a little happy pleasure just to call there...

Now for your plans:
This plan sounds good to me. I love that you will be doing the dessert party for the muchkins's actual birthday. Staying in the park and seeing the fireworks is so much better then the pirate cruise (not that I've been to either). That castle show is really enjoyable (in my personal opinion). And then not having to rush off to a park the next morning will be a nice treat.

i agree... I want to see the castle show UP CLOSE. and camera ready! last time i got OK pictures nothing to add to my web site, This time is a totally different story! i have been practicing fireworks/ night exposures for two years, i hope i am better!!!

A few questions/comments -
If you plan on going to Epcot on arrival day I would try to make a reservation for dinner there so you don't have to rush back to the Poly for dinner. Unless Ohana is the priority then your quick visit to Epcot would be fun, especially since you are on the monorail.

Your MNSSHP day - you can usually tell which days they will have the party based on the previous years calendar. I know in late Sept / early Oct they have the party on more then two nights. We have always gone in Oct/Nov/Dec so I always need to plan around the parties and if you look back you can see the pattern or if you haven't already, check for someone's predictions on the disboards. We have never actually gone to one of the parties (my kids are not nightowls by any stretch and I am just too cheap to pay for the extra tickets since they probably won't get to enjoy the party). We do usually hit MK on a party day and have found the crowds to be very light up until about 4:30 when the party crowds start to enter.

starts the second week of Sept first party normally starts on a Tuesday then another on a friday. Not really into the friday date as i am sure the locals come for it. too crowded for me..
The parties are WAY TOO MUCH FUN!!!

Lots of folks try to get early reservations in the park for the party so they can hit the ground running at 7 pm. I know if you want to do things like meet the dwarfs or Jack and Sally you have to be in line WAY before 7 pm.

i will wait an eternity to meet jack and sally..

A while back Nini posted that she felt she had better/faster service with a smaller party size then when her entire group (7 I think) ate at the same time. As a party of 6 (automatic gratuity) we have experienced the same thing and it seems to take us at least 90 minutes to 2 hours to have a meal at an ADR. The servers just don't seem to be in a rush to get our drinks, get our dessert orders or even bring our check. So you might want to factor that in when you are going to be eating with Jen's family. The only exception we had to that was at Kona cafe on your last trip where we had GREAT service and a GREAT meal.

Humm this is good to know.. i know for a fact i will have to book separately for dessert party.

Your day after the party at HS sounds like a good choice. With FP+ you can schedule a later ride on Toy Story Mania and enjoy that park even with a later start. Plus that park is smaller and you can probably do it in a shorter day.

I would totally plan on going to MK another day (6 or 7) depending on the crowd calendar, only because I love MK and we always spend 3 days there concentrating on a different section of the park and doing our favorites on each day . Like I said, MK on the party days is usually low crowds and that might be a good night to try and get BOG. I think we had a 6 or 6:30 ADR there on a party night and we were literally the last people in there. We had the castle to ourselves and were escorted to the front of the park (since we were not staying for the party). We scheduled our FP+ for Enchanted Tales with Belle right before our dinner reservation so we saw Belle and then Beast. We have also done MK on a party night and then gone to Chef Mickey for dinner. I know the theory is to avoid the MK on Saturdays as there are usually lots of locals plus the regular crowds.

i am a BIG fan of MK.. going there all week wouldn't bother me much, the kids on the other hand would kill me if we don't ride TOT, RnR, or TT about 93485729308576 times...

Just wanted to make sure that your trip is not Sept 5 or 6 since they are having the Night of Joy nights there on those days. I think they are at the MK and it closes early.

Sorry for the long ramble. I'm so excited that your trip is getting down to about 7 months away. I too am impressed that you have kept the secret so long and I love that the kids are saving money for a trip.

Im impressed i am keeping it a secret!!! the kids have been talking NON STOP about Disney.. NO STOP.. i think they may have an inkling.. YET i do believe they think they aren't going until 2015 i cannot believe it's finally 2014 and we ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!

Having park hoppers makes all the difference in the world! That frees you to follow your plan or make changes as needed. So with that in mind, I think what you have scheduled is fine. Make the ADRs you want and figure the details out later when the park schedules come out. No worries. I do think it's a great idea to rest a bit the day after the MNNSHP and would make a great DTD day.

I cannot agree with you more.. Park Hoppers are a MUST with us. i do need a down day after all the late night festivities! the kids will want to hang out at the pool (if there is one) or just relax, go to the arcade. God FORBID they don't play a video game for a week! i really need to figure out which restaurants are a MUST cannot miss or i will regret it forever!!!

To me, planning is half the fun of the trip and you don't seem to be having much fun with it. I hope you can take a deep breath and just enjoy the process. Go with the flow and try not to get too frustrated with things you cannot change anyway. Use your rapier wit to defeat whatever obstacles come your way. After all, you're SUPER MO!!! Remember??

We have not done the dessert party but have done the pirates cruise. We really enjoyed it and the kids had a ton of fun. I loved all the time we got to spend with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee and the special surprise at the end.

what is the surprise in the end?!?! It does look like a TON of fun.. I do want to do ONE thing for me this trip.. I know selfish!!!

We actually enjoy down days. I am a firm believer that when you are paying 300+ a night for a room you should enjoy the resort for some of the trip.

A little update!
Besides it being--Chiberia and i am watching polar bears and penguins playing outside, ya know because it's colder here then it is in Alaska.. so they are relocating the animals here...

Health watch:
Had another blood test. my thyroid is totally out of wack again. so they upped my meds AGAIN!!! i believe i am the highest dose now.. and i have a cholesterol issue.. If this is what 40 is going to be like i want a time machine.. I'm outta here.

With the glorious news of having high cholesterol i have been watching what i eat and exercising. Not the kind of exercise you all know.. I have been using VIDEO GAMES!!! yep! Dancing with the kids for a couple of hours a day. or any other Kinnect/wii games that makes us move!!! THEN went to volleyball and worked out with them!!! total of about 3 hours of moving and and laughing. My hidden agenda? the dance parties at Disney.. WE WILL BE READY!!!
so i guess a health scare will finally do it to me.. I am being a good girl.

On the Poly thread this morning.. Looks like the new construction and new bungalows will obstruct the view of the castle AND wishes!!!
the bungalows are taking up more then half of the beach. The pool will most likely be closed. SO i am wondering how the quiet pool will be OR using another report pool?? what a PITA that will be. it will work out.

If you really want to eat at BOG that night, make it an early dinner because you will not want to be in the restaurant during the party time.

You are open to so many more options with the park hoppers, so I wouldn't obsess just yet about which parks you want to be in on which days. Just plan which restaurants you want to have dinner or breakfast at, and leave it at that for now.

All that dancing with the kids is sure to pay off and you are exercising, spending time with the family and most of all having fun. Plus your kids will be nagging you to "exercise" so you won't be able to get a way with not doing it. Maybe I should try this technique.

If the Poly pool is closed, they will probably allow you to use the pool at the Grand Floridian since it is basically within walking distance. I think one time one of the moderate pools was closed and they provided buses to another moderate pool.

I guess I didn't change much! LOL! But I would skip the O'Hana dinner if you really want BOG. You have done O'Hana twice already. Let it be your backup if BOG doesn't work out. Personally, I would do BOG as a lunch and do O'Hana for dinner but I know you really want to try BOG for dinner. But if you did it this way, you can do both. What happened to CRT?? Or are you doing that if Akershus isn't a Frozen character meal?

All about Medications and getting it all straightened out. along with diet.. I need to change my eating habits. i'm constantly on the go with my kids and everything i do. I have 3 jobs. I'm the volleyball Coordinator for the kids school, I am the treasurer/secretary for our Little league. So i stay very busy. eating isn't my main focus. i need to change this... i am sure the cholesterol will get back into place once my eating habits change!

Disney is Disney NO MATTER what!!! I don't care where i am or what is going around me. I WILL BE IN DISNEY! So i heard if the volcano pool is closed they may put a slide into the quiet pool. so that problem is solved!
The pool at AoA is the main reason i want to stay there some day!!! I think it is JUST SO COOL!!! This will be out last stay at the Poly for a long time. I want to try other resorts!!! Aoa being in the #1 spot!
FYI. Pool Hopping is really a soar subject on the Dis.. People go Bat crap crazy if you say your pool hopping! you can do it here i don't care one way or another it does not affect me one bit.

Where did you get the crowd calendar??? YES you need to remember people's dates! There might be a thread created for people going in OCT 2014.. Maybe you will find who your looking for?

Have you named your animals yet?? I think the penguins have a family now in the igloo they made on the front yard!

I was able to talk to Jen yesterday. Well she called me about Baseball, i brought up Disney...
it was a funny conversation.. I was able to talk and she couldn't.. the kids were home with her!

So i did a run down of our days. Chris still doesn't understand why we need to plan 7 months out... Jen told him.. Well if you don't then your going to be waiting in line to eat for 4+ hours and thats IF you get in!!! Good Job Jen...

Sunday The kids and i might go over to their house for SUPERBOWL!!

Mo, so sorry about the thyroid getting worse. Dan just had that happen with his also, which is shocking because he eats right and is not overweight and has been specifically avoiding foods known to cause increased thyroid problems. AND his cholesterol was elevated also! THAT is crazy for him. But his dr said the increase in cholesterol was probably due to the need for increased thyroid meds. Apparently it can falsely spike your cholesterol. But it's great that the tests have spurred you on to examine your eating habits and start to work out. That's always a good thing! And, teaching your children how to eat heathy is a gift you can give them to last for the rest of their lives.

I'm so glad you're having fun with the planning. And yes, I got my USB from Disney right after I paid it in full. Then the bands came about a month out. And btw, I didn't get a magnet, so be happy for that little bit of fun!

We're eating at Ohana for the first time this trip. I'm looking forward to it as I've never set foot at the Poly. I know, I know, sacrilege! Lol about the "pool hopping"! It's quite the hot button on the DIS. The pool at French Quarter will be closed and we've been told that there will be transportation to shuttle us to Riverside for the pool. Less than ideal, but what are you gonna do? I was thinking the quiet pool at the Poly will be crazy crowded if the main pool is closed. Something to think about.

Well, we are not quite as frigid as you are up in the great white north, but it was 5 degrees when I left for work this morning..... still, that's better than the -15 they had in Pittsburgh on Monday - my son live in Pittsburgh. LOL

Maybe we'll add Ohana this time, since we've never eaten there????? I am having trouble settling on restaurants this time too. I want to try new places, but I do have some favorites....

Regarding AK Tusker House the day after the party---book the latest breakfast possible. If you get there later, you would be there later and get to see the Jungle Parade. That's what we are doing. We have never been at AK past 2 PM! Or....switch Day 4 and Day 7 and I think you will have it perfect

SORRY ABOUT THIS!!! I redid the responses (up there somewhere) who mysteriously DISAPPEARED!

Mo, so sorry about the thyroid getting worse. Dan just had that happen with his also, which is shocking because he eats right and is not overweight and has been specifically avoiding foods known to cause increased thyroid problems. AND his cholesterol was elevated also! THAT is crazy for him. But his dr said the increase in cholesterol was probably due to the need for increased thyroid meds. Apparently it can falsely spike your cholesterol. But it's great that the tests have spurred you on to examine your eating habits and start to work out. That's always a good thing! And, teaching your children how to eat heathy is a gift you can give them to last for the rest of their lives.

I did NOT know about any of that!!! THANK YOU! i have had this goofy thyroid thing for about 15 years and KNEW NOTHING! i guess i need to go back and start reading about it again.

I'm so glad you're having fun with the planning. And yes, I got my USB from Disney right after I paid it in full. Then the bands came about a month out. And btw, I didn't get a magnet, so be happy for that little bit of fun!

I really am having fun with it.. I just wish i had some sort of KNOWING of park times right now for when i do book the ADR's!!!

Lol about the "pool hopping"! It's quite the hot button on the DIS. The pool at French Quarter will be closed and we've been told that there will be transportation to shuttle us to Riverside for the pool. Less than ideal, but what are you gonna do? I was thinking the quiet pool at the Poly will be crazy crowded if the main pool is closed. Something to think about.

Well, we are not quite as frigid as you are up in the great white north, but it was 5 degrees when I left for work this morning..... still, that's better than the -15 they had in Pittsburgh on Monday - my son live in Pittsburgh. LOL

No way.. I remember being so tired and sick after the party in 2011 i do not want a repeat of that.. Plus gives us a day off in the middle of the week.
IF we want to head to a park once we are all up and moving then go to DTD for raglan road.. who knows this is why we love the HOPPER!!! HOPE to talk to jen about it this weekend.
I will say this trip each park will get it's full day. need to appreciate each park as much as we can!!! it will take a little longer to get through each park this time around with me stopping every two feet to take a picture..

wanted to call Disney yesterday.. didn't have time for ANYTHING i needed to do... Why you ask?
Let me tell you..
An Idjit who works upstairs is a weird bird when it come to papers like he has weather reports from 1999... yeah... Well as he was locking or unlocking his desk he didn't put the key in all the way and cracked it in half...
He has been complaining about this key and how he cannot lock his desk for a week...
Why do you need to lock your desk? I am in an office with a door that i never lock.. no reason! people are pretty OK here.. And there are cameras up.
SO the new boss man (the one that took over for my BELOVED Mark) Mike asked me to go and see if we can get a new key.. ummm OK.
He thought process was he was doing me a favor by getting me out of the office... My thinking is I LIKE to stay in my office in the winter.. Send me out in nice weather!!! anyway..
After a few computer issues i had to take care off i went to our Bridges Division... talk to the key master.. Nope he can't doesn't have the blanks to make the key.. O-TAY! back to my office tell Mike.
He says to try some different places around here..
Fix more computer issues here and get the keys to a vehicle. They give me a cargo van without back windows...
I have driven them in the past.. Well NO THANK YOU. i like to be able to see out of a back window i feel safer.
I BEG a co -worker to help.. He agrees.
Then finds out WHO it was for and had a melt down.. that no good... bleep bleep bleep.. I felt like i was riding with R2-D2 with the bleep of swear words.
We go to hardware store #1.
I like hardware stores. This was no exception. The building was an OLD mill of some sort, Skylights and dirty.. I wish i had brought my camera!!! So i walk to the counter when i behold Grizzly Adams...

Finally he wakes from his hibernation.. Looks at the key takes about 15 more minutes and then tells me NO they do not have this blank..

Back to the van.

Jimmy (my driver for the day) is getting frustrated.

Next store.. Lo and Behold the guy already had gone there earlier in the week!! Sadly No still no blank.

DANG it! we do have to drive to the expertise key and lock store..

we drive. find the weirdly located Key master store. give the guy the key and he is gone for about 5 minutes.. comes back to tell me WE have stumped him/.. NO one sells blank keys for Desk.
it is now 12 time to go back to the office!

This was my day.


so needless to say o got nothing done i needed to.

today? I plan on getting everything i need done.. Including paying some bills!!! Geesh!!!

hope to post some of the stuff i get done for you all to see how i will bombard Jen this weekend!!!
