Watch because airfare will drop this week

surprised to grab a $56 credit from SWA for Saturday flight on July travel dates this am, coming here to post;)

yep, im quoting myself:lmao:yesterday snagged another small credit, now have $72 credit burning a hole in my pocket. Still fare is $615 for 2 pp, approx 1/3 more than same time last year so im doing too much dancing.

good luck all:wizard:

We fly late Aug./early Sept. every summer from Upstate NY and the rates really don't bottom out until early summer. I know it is hard to wait, but they really do get waaaay down there. I'm talking $69-$89 for JetBlue and AirTran one-way. With the current price of fuel, they may not go that low, but I'm sure they will go down. The further you get into Labor Day weekend though, the prices will go back up a bit.

Do you really think $297 r/t is a lot though? It doesn't sound that bad to me.

Well, I hope your prediction still holds true for this season. I am counting on a fare drop. I see southwest went down $11 from $110 to $99 today. But maybe that has to do with the bad press it is getting with the plane losing cabin pressure due to the tear in the fuselage. Either way, I am hoping to see better prices for late summer.

Airtran has a nonstop out of MCO to PHL on 9/3 for $130. I think we will jump on that. Considering it is a holiday weekend, I dont see that going down any further.

Yep, I do think $297 round trip is expensive considering it usually costs me around $200 with tax and all. I am talking 5 people. I know i am not going to get last year round trip cost ($1012) but this year $1485 kinda hurts the wallet. But if its the cheapest I can get, I will go with it. But actually the quote I got was $1610 for 5 round trip so that comes to $322 per person :scared1:

Just checked Continental this morning, prices from Green Bay in October were around $320, and yes, I should have booked. Same flight I was eyeing is now $1174 today. What on earth happen?

I'm also flying out of PHL-MCO. Last Sept trip we only paid $350 for three people. This year we are looking around $550 (basically losing all travel days) or $650 for two people.
I'm hoping prices will come down during the summer also. Last year, I booked towards the end of July for Sept. It's hard to wait and predict.
I'm even looking into spirit air which their prices are just the same.
At this point, I'm even thinking of driving down if I don't have good deals on flight.:confused3

Yep, Airtran has started their sale....for flights through Nov! Last sale my flight dropped $23pp one way. On Sun it dropped another $10. Today the return dropped $10. I'm up to almost $200 in credits. :thumbsup2 Enough that I went ahead and upgraded to the priority boarding seats. My kids think it's 1st class......LOLOL And will cover 2/3 of the baggage fees as well.

Oh, this is from CAK where we never get the really low sales. Good luck.

Yay! I've been watching October fares on Airtran and they have been $127 to $134 one way and even $172 for the flight I wanted. Tonight they are on sale for $89 one way. We are booked! :cool1:

wow! :thumbsup2

As I posted on another thread - yesterday afternoon I bought a one-way ticket for my son on AirTran for Easter from Bloomington, IL to Orlando @ $173 + tax. Last night it was $124 + tax, so I called AirTran and got a $49 credit. Then I remembered that MY ticket for Easter, purchased last September, was $145 + tax - so I called again and got a $21 credit. The credits add up to $70 - enough to cover the $69 upgrade to business class fee for my son!

Checked SW today and the prices from Buffalo to Orlando in July dropped almost $100 per person. I had a reservation through SW Group travel for 10 people at a cost of $3788 and was able to cancel it and go online and get it for $2894. We are so happy, more money to spend in Disney.:cool1:

:thumbsup2

That's a great price. I wish we would see some fare drops in our neck of the woods. I've yet to buy my August or October tickets yet!

For those flying PHL TO MCO !!!!! CHECK AIRTRAN !!!

Flights are down to $79 from PHL TO MCO (Aug 24th). They aren't non-stop flights, but the fare is like days of old :rotfl:

Still at $130 for MCO to PHL (9/3). But since this is during the Labor Day Holiday I jumped on it.

I am a Southwest FAN, but this year they just didnt have the prices I needed. I am a little nervous about it since I have never flown on AirTran, but this year they beat out SW for affordability. Out of 7 of us, only 3 of us will have checked bags. The rest have carryons so there really is no savings for SW this year. Also, even though the flight has one stop, it still puts us in Orlando at 10:30AM!!! Which is what we like. Oh well, if all goes well, looks like SW lost a faithful customer this year to AirTran. But I am sure they dont care since they now own AirTran too!!

Hmmm.....Now I am wondering will AirTran DROP baggage fees in the future!!!

Never, ever get Dings for Hartford (CT) anymore so today, TA DA, a Ding from Tampa to Hartford for $99 vs. the $134 I paid. I'm so proud of myself. My evil plan to use 2 reward certificates for the way down (on a Sat - very small chance of a Ding) and pay for the way back (a Wed - better chance) has paid off!!! That'll be $70 worth of credits I can use for my return trip to Tampa in Aug!!!!!

Wait, what are the dates? May 1 to...... MAY 23?!?!?!?..... MAY 23?!?!?! NOOOOOOO! Of course we fly back May 25. Curse you SWA Ding Gods!!!

My guess would be that all of the coach seats are sold and the price you got was for first class.

I know the feeling!! Here I just LOST $75 of SW credits because I am not flying them this year before they expire. Called today to see if I could offer them to someone else and I was told NOT ANYMORE!! THE POLICY HAS CHANGED!!!

Seems like I am just batting a thousand with SW this year!!! :rotfl:

while they sent out emails that the credits would be tied to the original name this year, im pretty sure they've yet to figure out how to put it into place.

i was able to recently use credits to book airfare for my DS (different last name than mine) who was not on original res, might want to try it despite what you were told.;)

It's the lowest I've seen in awhile on Airtran. My March flights were $107 and $97 (I think). I'm hoping for a December sale coming up next! Still need Dec to MCO but I can wait a bit for a sale.

For those interested, I just checked SWA for Aug. 22 flights out of Islip and the 5:30 pm flight dropped to 99.00.

I just booked our flights down from Baltimore for $79 on way on Air Tran!!! We decided to take the late flight in and stay an extra night at the hotel! I will watch the flights coming home although it is current at $89 so that is good too!
