Watch because airfare will drop this week

Oh Dear, I dont know what I am going to do. I am flying from PHL to MCO on 8/24. Last week the cheapest morning flight was $110 with one stop and no plane change. Now its up to $137!!!! I thought flying late august would be reasonable airfare. Oh dear....i am worried that this trip may cost me an arm and a leg.:sad2:

Coming back on Sat 9/3 the cheapest flight is $160!! I realize that is a holiday weekend, but I didnt expect airfare to be this high this year....oh dear am I ever in a pickle :sad2:

Well I am out of my pickle

Unfortunately we are unable to fly Southwest this year. With the prices for our dates and our needs, its just not going to happen for us. From PHL to MCO from 8/24 to 9/3(Labor Day Weekend), we can't afford their fares even though they dont charge baggage fees. Took a minute for me to absorb that, get over and move forward in planning our vacation.

CONTINENTAL AIRLINES SAVES THE DAY!!! PHL to MCO on 8/24 was $59 a person!!! :scared1: Even with baggage fees for 3 checked bags it was cheaper. The catch was a 1 hour 49 minute layover in Washington, DC. Other than that, it works for us. Puts us in Orlando earlier. We come back on 9/3 non-stop on AirTran. Total cost was $1600 including taxes and baggage fees, but I dont think that is bad for 7 people. I couldnt play the waiting game anymore. I had to do what was affordable and this worked for us.

I booked yesterday also for our Sept trip and I've been looking for about a month.
Flying out from PHL-MCO Sep 24(Sat) Delta for $79 (1 stop ATL for 50 min)
Return from MCO-PHL Sep 30 (Fri) non-stop $112 US Airways

I'm pretty sure these may not be the best prices but I'm sick of looking and waiting and worrying. They fit the bill and desired time of travel and I'll sleep better every night knowing that we are set. :rotfl:
I really wanted SWA b/c of their generous baggage allowance but their round trip prices for our desired times are $500/person. :sad2:

GREAT!!! I'm with you. I dont think mine are the BEST prices either considering having to pay baggage fees. But just like you, I got tired of looking, waiting and worrying. I am very disappointed with Southwest this year but I guess I better get over it. Only 1 of 2 things will happen with them from this point forward. Either they will no longer be the least expensive anymore, and the prices we see now will become their norm. OR, they will lose customers to other airlines this year, and re-vamp their whole pricing system. Of course that is what I am hoping for. I LOVE southwest. But this year, their prices didnt fit my budget even with free bags. But we stay in a timeshare property that has full sized washers and dryers, so we can pack lighter. I am so happy the airfare part is done. I sleep better at night also. ;)

yep, im quoting myself:lmao:yesterday snagged another small credit, now have $72 credit burning a hole in my pocket. Still fare is $615 for 2 pp, approx 1/3 more than same time last year so im doing too much dancing.

Congratulations!!

Finally I can join the rate drop club because my Jetblue flight for THREE weeks from today dropped. I was happy with my $87 each way fare, but heck when it dropped to $79 last night I thought, do I want to call for $8 dollars ($16 total). I decided if it was available today I would call, and it was so I've got $16 to go to my August flight that I've yet to purchase. I really had not expected a drop this late in the game, but what the heck! Plus National was showing some downward movement this morning too. I just changed my rental car too to a new lower rate!! Just in time, since I just finished writing out my check to pay our State taxes! UGH!
