Watch batteries?

My 75 yr old mother asked me to ask this question - she has a disney watch w/ a dead battery and thinks/hopes somewhere in WDW when we go next month she'll be able to buy a battery and they will put it in the watch for her - apparently she is unable to locate a local place that does not charge $20 to put the battery in the watch. So -
1) where to find the battery &
2) will they put it in the watch?

No reason to do this at WDW. You can get a battery replaced in any watch cheaply by simply going to your local mall/target/wallmart type place.

They do not replace watch batteries in Disney- I was hoping to do this as my battery died on the car trip to Disney but I was told in the watch shop in MK that they do not carry batteries.

I think Walmart is probably the cheapest place to have a battery replaced.

Depending on the style of the back of the watch many jewelry store\s will replace the battery but they do charge for the battery and their time. $20 seems a bit high but 10 years ago when I worked in jewelry it was about $10 to replace a battery from a watch purchased in the store and many times the charge was $12 for a battery in a watch we did not sell so I wouldn't say that is completely out of line for a 10 year increase.

I learned this the hard way one trip, no watch batteries at WDW, not even DTD!

Does your mom have a SEARS nearby? They only charge like $12-14.

Even if Disney COULD change watch batteries, something tells me that they would charge at least $20, possibly more. Disney is the most expensive place in the world...why on earth would you have a battery changed there if you can have it done in your own town for much less?

All the little watch kiosks in the local malls replace watch batteries - I think I paid around $12 to have one replaced last year.

WalMart didn't charge me anything to install the battery in my watch. I paid for the battery (I think it was $3.50) and the jewelry counter installed it for me.

I read the same thing at first. Glad to see that I am not the only one to have a momentary lapse of concentration tonight.

OP. Maybe someone in your family can change the watch battery for her. My DH changes my batteries in my watches all the time. He has even changed the battery in my Movado and I've had it for 22 years. As a previous poster stated, Sears or somewhere in a mall near you. Good luck

1) Am not sure if this is wide spread.
2) The Walmart on Hwy-27 15 minutes from Disney will not replace batteries.
3) They said people were complaining that Walmart broke their watch.
4) That is tough to do just by opening it.
5) So, the practice was halted.
6) I would do a watch kiosk at the mall or even a drug store.

Some Walmarts will still replace batteries but we found out the hard way for our watch it takes a special tool to get the back, back on. Now we have a new battery and can't use the watch until we find a place that can get it back on.

Walmart replaced mine for free too. Just buy the battery there and they should put it in for you. Good luck!

Thank you all, you really do know everything Disney!
She has a bit of a watch collection, so she has tried near where she lives - she lives in a coastal area in central CA, no Sears, and no mall w/ Kiosks (her town doesn't even allow fast food restaurants.) There is a new Walmart about 15-20 miles up the coast, so I'll take her and the watch there this weekend when I visit & see.

Neither mt local KMart or WalMart will replace watch batteries. They will sell them to you, but you're out of luck unless you are a watch maker.
