"waste" a day at MK?

My ever evolving vacation plan has taken another turn. I currently have DD5 booked for the Tea Party on Friday, planned to head to DTD for the rest of the day, Epcot Sat, MGM Sunday, MK Sunday when we finish MGM.

Now I am thinking, since we will be there by noonish anyway on Friday, what about heading to the MK on Friday? I would cancel the Tea Party so that we would get to MK by noon or 1 rather than 3. My research tells me that is one of the better days to visit MK, I am just wondering if noonish until 7pm closing is enough time. (Of course, we could always go back since we have park hoppers.)

Anyone?
Forgot to mention that DD has been to MK once before, so we are not trying to see "everything" in one day. Mostly Fantasyland, Toontown, maybe some Frontierland.

I'd do it.

The one thing I hate about the PHP is feeling like you're wasting a day by not spending a certain number of hours in a park. That really bothered me on our last trip. On our last day we ended going to Epcot riding TT, walking around a bit then leaving. I don't think we were there for 2 hours, but my son was so excited about riding TT track again.

This time we're getting the UPH pass or the 30 day pass. That way we can come and go as we please not worry about wasting days.

I'd definitely do it. 7 hours in MK? I have spent way more money on a lot less than 7 hours in MK. ::MinnieMo Really can't go wrong there.

Cool. Thanks for the help. The more I think about it, the better it sounds. Especially since my original plan didn't include a park on Friday, and I can't imagine explaining to my daughter why we are "at Disney" and not going on rides. She'd be ticked for sure!

Are you staying onsite? If so, you might want to switch your Sunday plans and do MK in the am and MGM in the afternoon. MK has early entry on Sundays and is supposed to be pretty crowded. If you're mainly interested in Fantasyland, that is one that is really best if hit first thing in the am.

Just a thought.

We are staying at Pop. I thought about the MK early entry, but it just seems TOO early for us. I know DD is going to be excited about getting to the parks, but wouldn't we have to be at the bus stop at 7 or 7:30? I suppose it might be possible to get her moving that early....

I felt the same way. We will be getting to the MK tomorrow around 2 (if all goes according to plan). We have PS at CRT at 5, and plan to spend the rest of the time walking around and going on a few rides.

I see the MK is the place where you KNOW you are at Disneyworld. I always go on my first day; even if it means "wasting" a PH day. I don't consider 1/2 a day wasted. I consider 1/2 a day making me feel like I'm truly in the midst of the magic.

Good point. I really shouldn't look at it as wasting a day, but more like having a few hours to really get us in the spirit! Vacation planning sure is a lot of work;)
