I suppose injuries happen, I just thought this would have been fully resolved before this trip.

We leave June 29, and it appears I might be in a leg brace for knee issues and hip issues. I am a spry 42 year old but I am going to have to accept that the body just isn't healing the way I wanted it to by now.

So that said, what do I need to be thinking about for our 4 days at WDW. Should I rent a wheelchair or something to take the load off and rest the leg when I can? Walking is okay, just painful after a while, so I think I can walk with the brace to and from the parks to Disney transportation and at the hotel, but it might be a better bet to have some options for while we are at the parks so I don't do anymore damage. If so what is the best way to do that? Can I park hop with the wheelchair, or do I have to get a new one each park we go to?

Thanks! If there is anything that I need to be thinking about, please let me know. I was planning on a fully healthy trip, so if I need to revise plans, I might need to start switching things around this week.

Basically a person has a certain amount of energy available to them daily. If they relax during the day the amount of energy available will increase; when they sleep at night they recharge their system,

However, when in pain energy is used up much faster than in normal conditions. If you become exhausted, with by what you have done or, more importantly, what you have done while in pain your system will not recharge to the original energy level overnight and you are starting the next day with a lower amount of energy available.

You might pick a location at least a half mile from where you live and ask yourself would you like to walk there. If you hesitate, think "and back", and if you're still not sure then add "at least three times in a row".

Once around the World Showcase Lagoon Promenade is more than 1¼ miles; most people tend to average 8 - 12 miles per day at WDW.

You are probably best off renting an ECV from an off-site location. These are less expensive than Disney's and more maneuverable. You don't say where you are staying, but distances in and around the Resorts can be very long; with an off-site rental it will always be available.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including in Post #2 where people rent ECVs.
