Does anyone know what the GSS patch on the Redskin's jersey is for?

DH is wondering about it, and I can't find any info anywhere.

The Washington Post says GSS represents the initials of former minority owner Gerald S. Snyder, the father of current owner Dan Snyder. Gerald Snyder died in May at the age of 69.
