I'm trying not to give up on flying to FL next June even tho dh has big reservations about all of us flying together. Anyway, for those of you in this area, do you have an airport preference? Considering we live in Southern Maryland, any of the 3: Dulles, BWI, or DCA are all pretty far. Dulles is a bit farther I guess, but for the right price or good flight times, I would go a bit out of the way. What airline options do I have in this area? I've checked Delta, United, Continental, US Air, American Airlines, and I'd love to check Southwest if they'd ever get off their hineys and update their site!! We only want direct flights and would like to leave in the early afternoon as they are now reporting you have to sign in 3 hours early!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Carla

Disney4us2002 - I grew up in S. MD, now in Frederick County. My family is still in Charles Co. ANyway, we perfer Dulles because it is easy for us to get to. However, we do consider BWI & Reagan (or did consider Reagan in the past). Although security is tight everywhere, I think that Reagan will have the tightest. Even prior to 9-11, I found Reagan to be the most congested & the hardest to get to. FOr you it shouldn't be as bad though (unless it's morning "rush" hour). BWI shouldn't be too bad either. I just finished checking flights to Orlando from all three airports. I entered flexible dates & the fares came up starting at $110 round trip. It didn't seem to matter which day of the week I departed/returned. I only printed Dulles(IAD) & it came back with United, US Air, Delta Continental, airtran, Northwest, & American. I too wish SW would fix it's site. They really need to update the BWI info. Good luck.

I've flown out of both IAD and BWI. BWI's parking situation is a mess right now, but they are trying to remedy that. I think the airport has grown a little too fast. That said, I've gotten good deals on USAIR out of BWI.

When we fly out of Dulles, we use Delta. I'm going in 2 weeks on a $112 fare, but usually I pay somewhere around $150 - $160. There are tons of nonstop flights.

Dulles is larger and takes more time to maneuver, but they have it pretty together there. I'm guessing security will be extremely tight.

I've flown out of all 3, but prefer Dulles. I find the layout easy and parking pretty simple. Since we come from the West we take advantage of the Dulles Greenway. It saves us time and gets us out of rush hour traffic when we leave mid-week.

Hey addicted to WDW. We leave in 2 weeks too!! Staying at the Movies.

Out of the three, I prefer Dulles, but the best prices seem to be at BWI. My parents live 10 minutes from Dulles, but they still drive to BWI because the savings are so worth it.

Hi! We're from St. Mary's County and prefer to fly out of BWI. Easy to get to and traffic is usually ok. It seems to take forever to get to Dulles so I never even look for flights from there. DCA is ok but I always worry about getting across the W. Wilson bridge. We booked several months ago and have a 7:50 a.m. flight from BWI..... We will probably spend the night near the airport.

Have you considered driving? We have done that a lot even when the kids were small.

Good luck,
Carole

BWI! I live in Glen Burnie, and have flown out of BWI several times, (Disney trips, cruises, etc.)and out of Dulles once. The parking situation has improved greatly at BWI and I've always found cheaper airfare, with Southwest, USair, etc. Here's the link: http://www.bwiairport.com/index0.html Hope this helps!!
