Please any suggestions appreciated. We will be going the week of April 13th. We would like a great deal at a great hotel close to a metro station. I really don't want to pay over $130/night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Family of 2 adults and 2 children touring the capital for 3/4 days. Thanks

P.S. I don't feel comfortable with websites that don't tell you the name of the hotel that you are bidding on .

We are staying in Arllington right outside of DC at Hyatt Arlington for $79.oo a night The Metro is right across the street. I believe it is the Arlington stop. We book thru Travelocity but tripadivisor gave it a good rating. It was recently remodel. We are paying $179. for 2 night double beds.

We stayed in Annapolis at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in January.

It is a block from New Carrollton station and they have a shuttle that will drop you off.

The breakfast there was great and so was the coffee. Very nice place very clean with an indoor pool.

subscribing since we were thinking of making a trip as well
thanks for the info

Be sure to look at travelzoo for the Washington, DC hotel specials.
Right now, the Westin in Arlington has a special for $99.00/night (two double beds).
ALWAYS read the trip advisor reviews before booking!

Are you sure it was in Annapolis? Annapolis is not close to the metro, and the New Carrollton station is like 20 minutes from Annapolis.

I think maybe it was on Annapolis Rd.? I just don't want someone to have a hard time finding it.

Sorry! You are correct! THe parking lot was a block away, then the shuttle took you to the station.
We were there for the Inauguration and New Carrollton was so backed up we drove to the Greenbelt station.
I got a government rate at SS for $129 and we had 2 Q beds and a sleeper sofa in the small living area. It is only a few years old and the staff was great!

Bid on 4 star hotels in DC on priceline. We did and got a room at the Hyatt on NJ Ave (walking distance to the Capital and Union Station) for like $80/nite.

There is a web site that will tell you what bids are (and are not) being accepted by priceline.

Lol oh ok that makes sense. I just didn't want someone to have problems finding the place. Sounds like a good deal.

Subscribing; D.C. will be our next "big" trip. Thanks for the ideas, everyone!

Be careful with the charge for parking at a lot of the hotels. I went for a couple of days last summer - I ended up staying at the JW Marriott on Penn. Ave, for $119/night but paid $35/night parking fee. It was a weekend, and from what I understand a lot of hotels that cater to business travelers really lower their rates on the weekends. It was worth it since everything was within walking distance and we weren't there long.

I highly recommend staying in Crystal City or Pentagon City, Virginia. It is right outside D.C. and on the Metro and cheaper. You can always take a day trip the other way to Old Town Alexandria which I highly recommend for shopping and restaurants right on the river. I did Priceline but, like a pp said, got hammered with daily parking fees. So, ask about parking ahead!!! We went down last year for the Cherry Blossom festival and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It gets crowded but well worth the trip to see all the monuments surrounded by these gorgeous flowers.

My MIL booked a Motel 6 in Maryland from their website. It was only 79 a night in June. The blue line Metro was within walking distance about a two blocks I would say. Plus Mcdonalds and Wendys. It was clean and nice and had excellent sercuity. You had to get a parking pass and use your room key to open the gate.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Springfield VA and it was nice. Very last metro stop so it was pretty empty when we boarded in the mornings. The hotel will shuttle you back and forth to the metro station. It was a really nice hotel. Hot breakfast buffet and the staff went above and beyond anything that was asked. We went with our cub scout group so we got a group rate, not sure what the regular rate is but I'd say it would be comparable to what you are looking for.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

Yes, when we got the Hyatt on Priceline it did not include parking. Instead I parked around the block in a lot that was like $15/day

There is a Courtyard at the Dunn Loring Metro Stop in Va. I believe parking is free and the hotel is fairly new.

Can you take the metro from Reagan International into DC and various hotels and metro stops?

Last summer we stayed at the Clarion Suites in Arlington. It's a block and a half from the Courthouse metro (the only bad side was the walk there is uphill). I've seen suites there as low as $130/night on their website - weekends are cheaper since they have a lot of business travelers during the week.

Suite was HUGE with two queens in the bedroom, living room with sofa, chairs, dining table for four and full kitchen (fridge, oven, the works). Two TVs so the kids didn't fight. Tons of room for our little one to run around and play. Plus free breakfast every morning (full, not continental!) so we didn't even really need the kitchen (it was great for snacks and bringing in takeout dinners after sightseeing).

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Springfield. Very last metro stop. Has free shuttle to and from the Metro. I can't remember the exact cost I think $109 a night. This was last year, Memorial Day weekend. Was very nice. They have a nice breakfast in the morning.
