I currently have a kenmore front loader that needs to be replaced. thought about a top loader but decided to stick with a top loader. Down to two choices. Lg or whirlpool duet. anyone own either brand and can offer any advice? Tia.

I have an LG front loader purchased in 2009. It was the largest one with steam (has stabilization technology since it's in a second floor laundry room). I love it. Never had a problem. I wash king size down comforters in it and am washing all my cashmere right now. I love LG and bought an LG fridge a few years ago and again it's great quality.

I love my LG front loader! The model I have is WM3875HWCA. I also have the matching dryer which is also great. Anyway, the washing machine is awesome...the ONLY thing I don't like about it (or front loaders in general) is that you cannot soak clothes, such as whites like you can in a top loader. Other than that, I have so much fun doing laundry!

Edited to add: I've also had mine since 2009 I think (maybe 2010) and it's still going strong with no issues. My parents have a more basic model LG than mine but theirs has also been great they said...I think theirs was purchased in 2006 or 2007.

We've only had our LG front loader and matching dryer since September.
. This is our first front loader. We were warned to make sure to wipe down the washer gasket after use, leave the door open a crack to dry out ( it has a special stop on the door closure to allow you to do this) and to drain the filter once a month, so a little extra work over a top loader, but so far, so good.

:o I'm not sure I've drained mine in four years or so. I do always wipe down the washer gasket, leave the door wide open, and live the detergent area open. 5 years and no issues.

I have the LG front loader washer and dryer since August and I like it a lot. It's not the largest one, it's the second largest (only a family of 3). After researching a new washer and dryer, the LG by far seemed the most recommended and best reviews.

Make sure to drain it and take the basket out once a month. It catches things from pockets and even lint.

I think all the news LG's also have a "Tub Clean" (TCL) option, it's in the directions how to run it. You clean the gasket, drain it, and clean out the basket. When done with that fill the bleach holder up w bleach and run the tub clean mode. Mine runs for 1hr 10 min. Does a great job.

Thanks! I did run the tub clean yesterday.

We bought a Samsung front loader washer/dryer back in 2007 or 2008. I've never had a problem with smell and have never washed down the gasket. I do leave the door open a bit. But it's been a great machine and when it goes, I'll replace it with another Samsung.
