Washing Fabric Paint Off Clothing?

DD just called and said she had gotten fabric paint on her new hollister sweatshirt and she is freaking out . . .

Anyway to wash fabric paint off?

my guess is that it's there to stay...considering it's paint made for fabric...

I say "go with it" and paint up the sweatshirt...make it the "destroyed/painted" look that is so popular these days!

If You Make a Mistake - While paint is still wet, try:
Rubbing alcohol - may change color of some fabrics; test on hidden spot first.
Wet wipes containing alcohol.
Embellishing your blunder. Use a little artistic license to add some originality to the design.
Not all spills can be removed when wet. Once paint is dry, it cannot be completely removed from any fabric.

Thanks . . .can't wait to see it when I get home from work . . .You'd think it was the end of the world . . .

Too bad it's already dry . . .I'm thinking of maybe trying a razor blade lightly over it . . .and DH has some stuff called GOOF OFF . . .so I'll have to read about that too . . .

well - at least she's freaking out over her own silly mistake...and not because her mom is gonna kick her bum for getting paint on a new sweatshirt. (You have a good outlook/attitude about life mom! )

the razor blade might very well work...but I still like the "going with it" idea...i've done that to so many sweatshirts/shoes (chuck taylors make GREAT canvases for artwork!) in my life time. hehehe

That's only because she purchased it herself with the money she earns from working . . . I wish I had a recording device . . .it was pretty hysterical . . .it went something like:

DD (16 1/2 almost has her driver's license) : MOM! I got fabric paint all over my NEW sweatshirt!

Mom (38 1/2 sarcastic, funny, a little off at times): Sooooooo we'll get it off . . .

DD: The teacher said fabric paint doesn't come off!!

Mom: Well then you have paint on your sweatshirt . . what's the big deal?

DD: IT'S MY FAVORITE!

Mom: What the ratty looking gray one?

DD: It's NEW!

Mom: Isn't that the one you took from your ex-boyfriend?

DD: NOOOOO! It's my new Hollister!

Mom: That's New?

DD: Moooooooooomm . . .I have to get it off!! <Whining>

Mom: Well, we'll try . . .

DD: I don't even know why we were using fabric paint today . ..

Mom: Isn't that your Contemporary Crafts Class?

DD: Yeah .. .

OOH! OOOH!! I know the answer!!!

Just the other day, I noticed that I had gotten blue fabric paint on my favorite pink fleece Eeyore shirt. I thought I was lost. I remembered I had Henry's Carpet and Upolstrey cleaner. I had used it once before and it removed black printer ink off my gray berber carpet. It took the whole dinner plate sized stain off!! I figured what did I have to lose! I sprayed the shirt a couple times, used the little brush to loosen the paint...........and was amazed as it literally came off the shirt in little balls!! Didn't hurt the shirt one bit!!

oh to be 16 again....if only the worse thing in my life right now was paint on a $40 sweatshirt! heheh

poor thing! best of luck 'calming' her when she gets home!
