Wash Your Dishes

I asked about this same thing on this board when we returned from our September trip. Found dirty dishes in both villas at BCV and SSR. Although I had never given it a second thought before, we'll now be washing the dishes BEFORE we use them. Leaving dirty dishes behind (and putting them away in the cupboard!) is so inconsiderate of other fellow DVC owners.

I buy disposable cups, plates, utensils. I don't want to be bothered with worrying over germs plus I don't want to do dishes while on vacation.

Well, here's the funny part - who in their right mind would take the time to put a dirty dish in the cupboard? :rotfl:

Sounds like the housekeeper to me.

I live dangerously, if it is not visibly dirty I just go with it. I figure if I don't I am messing with Karma and I will walk out the door only to get hit by a Disney bus. But I will say this, I don't over do the germ killing thing, I wash my hands, wash plates that are visibly dirty and I have never gotten sick in over 25 years of going to Disney.

Besides I try to be as green as possible and rewashing all those dishes on the chance they are not clean is too much for me and never would I fill the landfills with more disposables to keep from running one load of dishes. :thumbsup2

Here is what we almost did.

Our last day at Kidani we were getting ready to check out and when we went to start the dishwasher we were out of soap. (Mousekeeping never showed on T&T day) DW started the dishwasher and I said "what are you doing" Her replay was that she was rinsing the dirty dishes.

Then the thought hit me, Mousekeeping would never look to see that the dishwasher was on "rinse only" and put the dishes away dirty. We shut off the dishwasher and left the door open.

:) Bill

Good call on that one!::yes::

Why didnt you just put the soap in and wash them, when they are done they would know it? doesnt it say something on the dishwasher or it would def be warm?

That's me too, I am one of those freaky moms that have never ever bought Purell, or any of those antibacterial soaps, I still have actual soap bars in the bathrooms!!

I pull a dish out, if its dirty, toss it in the dishwasher. As for lipstick, yup its grosse, but won't come off in the dishwasher, needs to be wiped, doesnt mean the cup wasnt clean.

I am a washer too. When growing up and staying at the coast in a cottage the first thing we did after unloading the car was wash the cups and utensils we would need until the next morning. We are no different when we go to WDW. I just have to be sure the dishes we use are clean. I even run jacuzzi cleaner in the jetted tub before we use it. I just can not stand the thought of what might be in there.:scared1:

Ok, I have to ask this, those that rewash the dishes, what do you do when you eat out? :confused3

I mean honestly with food on your plate are you sure they are really clean or did they get a quick rinse with hot water. ;)

I usually do the dishes when I'm in the whirlpool bath. That way, the jets get everything super clean for the next person.

Same here.

Me too.

If I ever find dirty dishes upon arrival? I will call Mousekeeping and let them do them. I'm sorry, there's no excuse for a room to be left in that condition.

I guess I assume that the restaurants have quality assurance and are routinely inspected. I will admit that it's probably not up to my standards, but I guess this is my way of living dangerously.:lmao: There's really not much I could do about this other than go to their kitchen and wash our dishes myself, but I won't do that. However, I can do something about the dishes etc in the resort villas, so I wash them, not a big deal for something that will put my mind at ease.

Anyways, I don't have that much faith in the Disney housekeeping. I don't think that they even check if the dishes are clean in the cupboard. So, anyone can put dirty dishes in the cupboard. I don't know why someone would do that, and it still amazes me how some people can be so disgusting.:scared:

Same here! I have never opened a villa cabinet and I don't plan to. We never cook on vacation and tend to only use cups for drinking water in the evening. And we reuse the same cups so we don't create excessive waste. :goodvibes
