Just got back and totally disgusted of adults and kids not washing hands after using bathroom.

Think this was my last buffett ever after witnessing once again people using restrooms not washing hands touching every spoon on buffet.

i forget the actual number but most men and lots of women do not wash hands :rolleyes1: digusting huh

I think 80% of men dont wash and 50% of women. I can't remember but I think that's correct.

I just saw on MSNBC a story about scientists who have decided that anit-bacterial soap is actually no better than regular soap.

They also said that if you wash your hands then use them to open the bathroom door that you've just picked up more germs than you received while using the facilities.

Is it wrong to use the paper towels to open the door? That's what I do

The newest numbers (last I found) are 75% men do not 25% women do not. I am in the 25%.

yuckkk! I am no germ phobic but I hate it when people dont wash their hands. I always keep wet wipes/antibacterial on hand because public restrooms are a huge germ war. just think of how many people touched the stall door/handle, the restroom door handle to exit and enter and the sink taps. I just love the new faucets, soap dispensers, etc that go on by sensory mode....auto flush toilets, too!

Another thing I hate is public change stations for babies. I will say Disney has the cleanest baby stations/nursery set up. Its just too bad more theme parks, family outings dont follow the same!

I always carry the small travel anti-bacterial wash in my purse because I am allergic to most handsoaps.....

Maybe many of these individuals are using wipes of some kind after they leave the restroom... :rolleyes2 :rotfl:

I was going to bring this up too. The wash in the bottles is probably better than using the restroom sink. Like someone else said, you pick up germs from the door handle! :earseek:

That door handle issue is why I HATE it when bathrooms have those dang blow dryers instead of towels. I always use a paper towel to open the door if it is a handle you have to turn to get out. However, think about it--it's not just spoons at buffets, the rails in the line rides, the handles on the ride cars, the seats in the monorail--there are disgusting germs everywhere. The key is to just wash your hands regularly and keep them away from your face in the meantime.

I see it everytime (youngest potty training) we go out in public . It grosses me out, even my 2 year old knows to wash her hands without me saying.

We don't wash our hands in the restroom. After we exit we use the anti bacterial hand gels. One the reasons is that my DD has a really hard time using the automatic sinks. Just because someone walks out without washing doesn't mean they are not disinfecting their hands before they eat.

People may think I'm a freak-- but we get a paper towel rung down, wash our hands, grab the paper towel and after we've dried our hands, we use the towel to open the doors. This month, we noticed at least half of the people were not washing their hands. I was the obnoxious person who stated LOUDLY :rotfl2: to my children that they should always wash their hands, even if it just out of kindness for other people. It WASN'T for the beneift of my children!! :teacher:

As for EVERY buffet, I serve the children and then make my own plate. After heading to the bathroom to clean my hands from touching the spoons, I return to eat my meal.

It sounds over the top, I'm sure, but it has become my habit and takes no time at all to be clean.

I really thought that DW would have clean guests so I was surprised to see fewer people wash their hands than at any mall I've ever been to.

If you used the antibacterial gel, it would save you all that work and running back and forth to the restroom...............and I like my food to be hot when I eat it. :teeth:

I agree that it may not always be as it seems when someone walks out of a restroom without washing. If I'm heading straight from the restroom to my car I will forego washing in the restroom (assuming it was just a #1) because I keep WetOnes in my car and would rather use them for my kids and I. Things aren't always as they seem.

I agree that it may not be as it seems. My 2 DD and I always leave the restroom and use antibacterial gel after we leave. I just can't stand the thought of all the germs on the door handle. :earseek:

It's funny that one person stated they were obnoxious and made a comment about not washing hands. Funny because I was the other obnoxious person that commented back that I always use the gel after I get past the door with all the icky germs. :rotfl:

I am always reminding my daughters to use the gel. They keep a bottle in their purses at school as well. :teeth:

I am sorry but that is gross, everything you are touching until you clean your hands.

Do Wetones even clean as well as soap and water?

I use towels for the door handle or my shirt.

we have to start asking that places put trash cans right outside the door - so that you can use a paper towel and then discard it out side the door. I saw one health official that said you would see this happen if enough people opened the door and discarded them in a pile outside the door! :rotfl:

Gel is great as an extra measure. But rubbing gel on hands that have a mess on them, still leaves a mess on them, only the mess is smeared around and smells good when you are done. Running water washes it away. Sanitizing without washing away dirt does not make anything clean.

I agree though that sometimes the food is not as hot as I like it once I have left to wash my hands. I have considered using napkins to grab the spoons but my DH would call me "Bob" and he'd be right!! Baby Steps to the buffet... Baby Steps to the table... Baby Steps to sit down and not wash hands... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (It's one of my all-time favorite movies!!) And just so you don't worry-- I'm a careful hand washer but I do leave the house, hold a job, go in public and have friends. I even eat at buffets and sleep with the comforter ON THE BED in my hotel, which I have heard is somewhat rare these days!! :)

:earseek:

Happy washing! Remember, you must clean before you sanitize!! They have to happen in that order-- take it from Bob.

i posted this afew days ago. it does bring out washing is probably the best

i thought disney had door less bathrooms? which imo is a good idea.

for ones that don't i open the door with the towel, hold it with my leg and toss...usually there is a close enough trash can ,if not i just take it to the closest one out side..with the hand dryers i just use a part of my shirt along the hem to grab the handle, i figure the part by my pants is sitting on the seats the butts of the people that don't care if they are eating urine and feces sat on so what are the chances the rest of them are all that sparkling clean:rotfl:

another reason i hate buffets
