Wash hands, PLEASE!

I love it when bathroom doors need to be pushed (I use my foot) open to get out instead of using a handle. I use a paper towel to open doors with handles and then throw it away in the closest trash can. If they only have blowers, I will wait for someone else to open the door from outside and slip out quickly after they enter and before the door shuts or use a wet wipe from a pack I keep in my purse (if no one comes in after a few seconds).
Maybe WDW could install automatic dispensers filled with antibacterial gel like they have on their cruise ships at the beginning of each of their buffets and dining rooms. I didn't see one person not use them on the Disney cruise we went on this year. The nice thing is you just put your hands underneath and it comes out without touching the dispenser at all.
Maybe we could all write management and ask???

Like a previous poster said, "just another reason I refuse to do buffets".

Gel is great as an extra measure. But rubbing gel on hands that have a mess on them, still leaves a mess on them, only the mess is smeared around and smells good when you are done. Running water washes it away. Sanitizing without washing away dirt does not make anything clean.

I agree 100%. Why not do both? Wash and then use the gel once you get out of the restroom? I don't remember ever getting sick from a buffet. But now that you all have me thinking about it I may use a napkin while serving myself next time and I don't care if people look at me like I'm crazy. I don't ever want to get sick but especially not on vacation. :earseek:

Most people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom. It is a fact Women's rooms have more germs than Men's room because of children.

Using a hand dryer just blows germs into your hands...never use them.
(shocking but true just saw this on 20/20)

The cleanest part of the bathroom is the toilet seat

Always use the first stall...it is used the least.

It's not only the people that do not wash their hands that gross me out but what about the ones that do wash thier hands but pick their nose, scratch their butt, pick their teeth, scratch their crotch, cough and sneeze into their hand then touch stuff...like what you are about to touch and eat. Really Really gross...I do not ever eat at buffets. At least at TS you are limiting how many people are touching your food.

Just a few fun facts about germs!

Don't count on anyone wshing their hands.

What grosses me out even more is the women I see doing the mandatory 2 second rinse with cold water and no soap. I think that is even more disgusting.

Think about this. What do you do after you finish washing your hands? Unless it's an automatic faucet, you turn off the faucet. The same faucet that peopole have been turning on before they washed their hands. In most homes, the faucet handle has more and worse germs than anything you touch while you are going to the bathroom. In a public place, the notion that you are doing much of anything by washing your hands is kind of silly.

For the record, I always wash my hands. But before you get all grossed out, realize that it's mostly psycholgical and not particularly sanitary.

LOVE threads in the dining forum that use the words scratch and crotch together.

When I am in public place, espically the gym, I wash my hands all the time. I first dispense the papertowels turn on the water wash my hands with lots of soap and hot water when done I rip off the papertowels dry my hands then turn the water off with the paper towel. This way I don't touch anything....the papertowel is laready hanging there. I also open doors by leaning on them.

Oh yeah I forgot a few other things that gross me out (just to add to my list above) People that blow their nose at the dinner table, people that blow their nose in the DINNER NAPKIN - UGGGHHH People that constantly scratch their heads or comb their hair at the table.

I could tell you some pretty gross stuff I have seen...you would not believe it. We travel a lot and Ihave seen anmd heard some pretty gross stuff. So I don't take any chances.

OK there's one I will share...it's REALLY disgusting..so if you don't want to vomit stop reading here.

On a flight to las vegas this past July I was sitting on the aisle and my DH at the window. There was a man in his late 40's next to me on the other side of the aisle. He took off his shoe and crossed it over his knee..so I was looking at the bottom of his foot. He had a huge corn on his foot and he was picking at it and eating what he had picked off. I had to look for a second or two becasue I could not believe it. I said to my husband "do you think he would like some butter with that corn?" he did not get it until I showed him what was going. My DH almost puked and I had to witness this for 5 hours.

This is a true story! And I have more!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
It sounds like a scene from "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"!!

I am dying over this story!

We always use a towel to turn on/off faucet and open doors, etc. If there are no towels, I use toilet paper. Then the anti-bacterial gel. I really like the bath & body works ones. They smell great!

I am going to use the serve and wash method a previous person mentioned. We have 2 buffets scheduledand I NEVER thought about people not washing their hands....how gross!

Oh yeah...where can I get that icon with the hair straight up and down....cool! ;)
