All the posts about the refillable mugs at resorts got me to thinking. When we stayed a POR a few weeks back, we had one breakfast at Boatwright's. We had just filled our mugs with coffee (my dh and I each bought a mug). We ordered drinks for the kids at breakfast, but when our waitress asked us if we wanted coffee, we pointed to our mugs, which she said was absolutely fine, but I kind of felt "cheap" about it. We all ordered food and we left her a nice tip, but I can't help shake that feeling that I should have ordered coffee instead of the free stuff.

What do you all do?

Don't feel "cheap." So, you didn't order coffee from your server. So what. You said you left her a good tip; that's all that matters to her.

I don't think it was tacky. You ordered breakfast and beverages for the kids. Your breakfast ... your choice. I wouldn't sweat it for a second. I hope your breakfast was good.

I wouldnt feel bad, when we at Boatwrights a few weeks ago I heard the waitresses asking if people wanted to fill their mugs up instead of ordering drinks, so I think it is pretty normal.;)

Thanks! I feel better! I had that one moment of "Did we do that wrong"? I was afraid someone on the DIS might have seen us and made a post about the tacky folks using their refillable mugs at a sit down....ROFL!!!

In no way do I see that as tacky or cheap,we would do the same thing.::yes:: :wave2:

Drinking coffee that you already paid for from another location in the resort is absolutely different in every way from bringing your own cans of diet coke to the table (which I saw at Biergarten once...)
