Was Star Tours refurbished and if so will the new version make me motion sick?

It's been a few years since I road Star Tours, I recently read that it was refurbished. Is the new version rougher? I could ride the old version but perhaps not any thing rougher than that.

WDW or DLR version? When was the last time you went? I went to WDW in June 2012 and just last month. It didn't seem any different to me. It seemed the same as the one at DLR too, which I rode ad nauseum:) in June 2013.

I get motion sickness pretty easy, and I rode Star Tours 11 times on two consecutive days last August. My husband never gets motion sickness...except on Star Tours. LOL. So I really think it's a "try it once and see."

I'm not sure that its roughrt or jerkier than before. The new ST has several different versions. You don't know in advance which combo of scenarios you're going to get. But I have found that I'm more prone to motion sickness with some of the new combos than I ever was with the old one.

I find that I get motion sickness less on the newer version than I did on the old version. I can ride it multiple times in a row now where that would have been a problem before.

I got motion sick on both the old version and the new one since the refurb. I don't think it is rougher.

Simulator Rides always make me nauseous and Star Tours is no exception. Unfortunately it's also one of my son's favourites. I just close my eyes and I'm fine. Obviously missing out on the ride, but at least I can get through it without feeling sick afterward.

I never had problems before, but now if I ride it more than once at a time it does give me motion sickness. DH loves the ride and wants to see as many combinations as possible. Which means when it is quiet one ride after another.

I find that the 3D contributes to my motion sickness on the ride. Before it was just a jerky but I didn't get too much nausea, just a twinge. Now it's pretty bad. I guess it just depends on how you react to the motion typically.

I am very prone to motion sickness on simulator rides. I only rode Star Tours once on my last trip and let my husband take the kids all of the other times. I'm glad I did it though, I was able to close my eyes whenever I started to feel sick, so I never got too bad.

Star Tours sometimes gets to me, but not usually. And if so, it doesn't last long.

It seems dependent upon which scenario is shown. Some seem more prone to motion sickness than others, but I couldn't tell you which ones. It wouldn't matter anyway; you have no way of knowing what you'll see.

I'd agree with others; give it a try. If it bothers you, close your eyes.

I love ST's but ST's doesn't love me :sad2:Even with 2 Bonine motion sick pills, I still come off that ride feeling blehhhh :crazy2:

Personally, I've noticed that I tend to start to feel a little motion sickness-y when I sit on the end of the rows. If I'm in the middle it's fine.

Same here. Never used to have problems, now once is my limit. Could be that I'm getting older and less tolerant though, not a fault of the ride. Generally I don't ride more than once unless DS insists, but then 2 times is my absolute limit!!

The refurb was the film, not the actual simulators, so there really hasn't been any change in the physical experience.

But the new film, with the 3D, does make it feel different. I can ride it once, barely. Sometimes I have to close my eyes towards the end of the ride. Oddly, it doesn't bother my dd, who has tossed her cookies in my car more times than I can count.
