I think it was named Pan Pacific at one time, but knowing my memory these days, I could be wrong. Hope others chime in.

It was built back in the 80's by a Japanese company. I think they originally named it the Emerald hotel, then later changed it to Pan Pacific.

Disney bought it in the 90's but didn't really do anything significant with it until DCA. Then, of course, they transformed it into the hotel you know today.

What I like most about it is that it still retains some of it's character from the original "Japanese" version... like the Sushi restaurant and the fact that it has a 13th floor (I guess Japanese folks don't care about 13)

My favorite dumb joke is to walk into an elevator and if a nice stranger asks "what floor" I like to reply "13 please". I have to remember not to do that there ;-)

We stayed on the 13th floors.....LOL I didn't even think about that! LOL How funny....and no wonder some of the other guests looked at us funny when we said "13th floor" LOL

Hubby mentions that the Asian bad luck number is 4.

Is there a 4th floor at PP?

And I do recall from other conversations that Pan Pacific was the name before...

When Disney first bought it, they renamed it to the Disneyland Pacific Hotel (The first "Disney" hotel I ever stayed at! Ha!). They even made a palm tree logo with a neat hidden Mickey. Ah, memories.

Indeed.

In Japanese, the word for 4, "shi," is also the word for death.
