Hi guys, didn't quite know where to post this, but I have a quick question...last year I heard a lot of rumors that haunted mansion would be turned into something like the Nightmare before Christmas during the halloween party...was this true, not true, possibly true...thought up in my own head??? If it did happen, will it ever happen again?

Thanks! :)

That's true, Disneyland's HM will be transformed into a Nightmare before Xmas theme between halloween and Xmas.

Last I heard, they were planning on opening the 'Nightmare' HM in early October. Some of the confusion regarding this is that they had originally planned to do this last year, but decided that they didn't have enough time to do it right and waited until this year...

Only Disneyland so far. I did read a couple months ago from a Jim Hill article that if this makeover is proven sucessful in DL, it may come to Florida one day. It's just a rumor so far.

:( Awwww heck...I'm a huge Tim Burton fan...I was getting really excited...

Thanks everyone... :)

It's temporary but should be a lot of fun anyway. Disneyland has really been pulling out all the stops for Christmas. They also do up It's a Small World for Christmas and it turns that ride into a MUST SEE! It's pretty incredible. Also they have special fireworks, a special parade, and last year generated snow over Main Street USA every night.

If Disney had actually bought all the property they were rumored to have bought in Texas over the last 30 years, we wouldn't have any place to live!
Seriously, the latest Texas rumor I've heard is that Disney bought the site of the Texas Renaissance Festival near Magnolia (about an hour from Houston). It's a huge site and would be quite suitable for a theme park (maybe Disney's American Adventure?)
Having said all this, I don't think it's ever going to happen.

I read an interesting article in the "orlando sentinel" that said that the major companies are looking towards the foreign markets. I know this isn't new news but I found it interesting that there are currently only two "major" developments (neither involving Disney or Universal) planned for the US with approximately 10 planned for foreign countries.

I can understand why they would want to see how the HM make-over goes, first. However, is there a reason why they haven't don't do the IASW make-over and the Main Street snow effect at WDW.

Larworth, As a a Chicagoan who was at DL last Christmas and expireanced the "Snow" First hand, I can only guess its because itwas the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Unless you've never seen snow before. If I wanted to get snowed on, I would have stayed in chicago, not flown to LA. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

First off, this is Southern California. Water that falls from the sky is considered a flaw in nature. When that water gets all hard and crunchy – that’s just plain evil. The “snow” at Disneyland is as close as any self -respecting Southern California will get. We put snow on the mountains to make the television pictures of the Rose Parade look good, and then we dump the stuff as quickly as possible.

The ‘Nightmare’ make-over of the ‘Haunted Mansion’ is entirely a Disneyland-driven event, part of the rather substantial holiday marketing event that the park has been doing in the last several years. Started with the Holiday version of ‘Country Bear Jamboree’ (soon to be sold on eBay), and has included ‘Small World’ and New Orleans Square. Since the vast majority of park visitors are locals, the gola is to make a holiday trip to Disneyland a “family tradition” and these special events give everyone something new to look at. And merchandise for ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ has become fashionable and someone came up with the idea of this tie-in (okay – without the merchandise tie-in and the Studio trying to play nice with Tim Burton, none of this would have happened). Disneyland departments are doing all of the work on the new show; WDI has no creative involvement. Whether it ever shows up at WDW is really up to the local management in Orlando (and I don’t think they worry too much about getting crowds in winter).
