This happened to me last April when I had just come back from a great trip at Disney.

I had a cyst burst.

Now over a year later I have another one however it didn't burst yet. However the pain has been unbearable. I had to go to the ER on Friday ( since I am unemployed I have no health insurance) I was crying in pain and was arguing with my friend who is a nurse and said that I wasn't going to go to the ER b/c I have no insurance. Well she drove me anyway.

After getting excellent care, I was highly impressed with this ER. They informed me that I indeed had a large cyst on my ovary. I have to follow up with my OBGYN...$400 visit... no way. However they did sign me up for Charity Care, we'll see what happens.

MY big question is, should I be worried? The pain has gone from a 10 to a 4 and is more bearable but still there. I am prepared if its going to erupt and/or burst.

Has anyone else had dealings with this before? What did you do?

Sorry you are in such pain.
Actually, no joke having a cyst burst, can be serious. So, please follow up and let us know all is okay.
Best of Luck:grouphug:

Sorry to hear you are going thru this. Please do not let yourself suffer because you do not have the money to pay right now.

Every hospital and most doctor's offices (in my experience anyway) are willing to let you make a payment arrangement.

I don't know what could happen if that cyst should burst, but I would think it would not be wise to wait and see....your going to need care either way, so get it sooner rather than later when it turns out to be a full on emergency.

Best wishes to you.

Sounds like you have things under control for now, but you're going to have to get this taken care of. Ruptured ovarian cyst is serious business and you can die without treatment if that thing goes. If your pain worsens go back to the hospital. If you can get in to see a GYN tomorrow I recommend you do so. It really *is* that important.

I'm not trying to scare you, but yes you need to see a doctor. You can bleed out from a ruptured cyst, it isn't common but it can happen. Most docs will let you have a payment plan, and when I was uninsured the docs also had a sliding scale for people who couldn't afford the full payment. I get cysts too, I know how painful they can be. Best of luck to you!

I had one rupture in May and I honestly thought I was dying because the pain was so bad. I went to the ER and after they figured out that's what it was, they made me stay for a few hours to make sure I wasn't going to bleed out. You should see your GYN ASAP, and go back to the ER if the pain gets bad again.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes:flower3:

I do have a regular gyn but haven't gone due to the fact that I don't have insurance. He is very expensive but he dealt with it back in April 2008. I still want to apply for charity care, but I have to make call first and make an appointment.

The pain has subsided and well the last time when it did break it was very scarey because I had no clue what was going on because I didn't recall this type of pain. I did have bad cramps but NOTHING like this past weekend.

I think I may just call and see if I can do a payment plan with them. I don't know though because they are very strict about things like that.

Tomorrow is also that "time" for me as well so the ER Dr. told me that it may slowly go down OR burst. I don't want to play around with it, just worried about paying for care. I am stressing out about that, I am embarassed too.

Yes, I dealt with this in the past. Go to the doctor. The pain can go back from a 4 to a 20 as easily as went from a 10 to a 4.

Call your regular Gyn and see what they say. If they say no, ask if they know of any local resources that may be able to help you get care.

Hope the pain remains manageable today for you.

Please see someone. They can become septic and all that infection can spread in your body and make you very sick. I have two right now, one on each ovary. I have been watching these every month with an ultrasound because I don't want to go thru that again!!! Good luck.
