This past weekend I was in Orlando for a meeting without the wife and kids and so with my wife's encouragement, I made a solo pilrimage to my mecca, WDW. I played hooky for two days and was playing in the magic Monday afternoon and evening (nice day) and Tuesday morning and early afternoon (hot day). I upgraded a 5 day hopper pass that I had for a trip planned in Nov to a PAP. There was a slight mix-up upgrading my pass (CM hit wrong button) which started a chain of events that required me, two other CMs (one of them on the other end of the phone line) and 25 minutes of time to rectify. When all was said and done, I not sure but I think I underpaid for the PAP and the CMs gave me two Fast Passes to make up for my lost time.

So briefly, I hit single the rider line for Mission Space (15 min wait). I didn't vomit, but I could see how some people might. Hit the single rider line for Test Track (10 min wait). Then I discovered something odd; you know how it is when you have a group of people and it's hard to reach a consensus as to what to do next? Well I stood there with unlimited options and couldn't figure out what I, a single of one mind person, wanted to do next. So long story shorter, TOT, RNR, $1,000,000, picked up some Honored Guest badges for the kids for Nov trip, Illuminations, and other rides. Tuesday, opened Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Phil, Splash, PoC, HM, yada yada yada. Lines weren't bad, but as a solo traveler I was able to avoid them by picking and choosing.

Also spent a great deal of time on the cell phone (Sprint, good overall reception) to my wife in Chicago and my family in California playing "Guess what I just did/saw/rode?"

The nice thing about traveling solo was that I was able to stop and observe a lot of things and what struck me most was the suggestion of work being done. Now I don't travel to WDW often and I don't actually notice these things so this maybe the norm and in some cases I didn't actually see workers per se, but I did notice the following:
Workers painting lanes in MGM parking.
Work fences up around SAB (parts still open though), Small World, AE, New York Street (MGM), Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playset (MGM), and the Rose and Crown Pub was closed for rehab (though outside dinning was still available).
Also, there was scaffolding up around the Beach Club.

So is it wishful thinking on my part that the powers that be may have stopped and taken a look around and thought to themselves, hey our critics maybe right, this place could use an overhaul? Is there truly that much magic and pixie dust?

Glad you had a good time.

I bet you are even more excited for your November trip now.

BTW - can you explain your signature?
