Was in a car accident today ~ updated a little with ??

I was going to get my girls at school. Was going straight and a woman decided to turn right in front of me. It was green going East and West and she was turning South right in front of me... my son was in the car, thank God for carseats, he's fine. I had to be taken via ambulance to the hospital. I have a bad case whiplash, pulled shoulder/neck and a seriously sprained foot/ankle. Otherwise, some big bumps and bruises and burns from the airbag and seatbelt. I feel horrible, this hurts so bad. They wouldn't give me pain meds at the ER but i'm waiting for some from the Pharmacy to be filled. My foot is in a brace and have to use crutches for awhile, which sux because the whole top part of me hurts so bad, it's hard to use them. I can't believe my foot isn't broken it hurt so darn much.

My car is really really bad. Turns out the lady at fault rented the car from Avis and declined insurance. And she doesn't have a license either! Not sure what all is going to happen from this, to early to think about it.

Just wanted to vent and get it off my chest... i'm in pain and i'm pisssed!

So she doesn't even have insurance from another car?

How can they rent a car to someone with no license? If they did, it seems negligent on their part.

I'm glad you weren't hurt worse, but it sounds terrible. It will probably be worse tomorrow. Hope you have someone to take care of you!

We need to get the story still about the rental car.... avis might have partially been at fault. I would have thought they would have to show insurance of SOME sort?

Yes, i've been told a number of time i'll feel worse tomorrow.... and today it's bad so wow, can't wait!!! My husband is taking the next 2 days off of work. I made it upstairs (combo of on rear and crawling) and won't be heading back down or out of bed any time in the next few days. UGH, even when i'm sick I hate to be bedridden...yuck..thank heavens for my laptop or i'd go nuts.

Sorry about your accident. I would find out why Avis rented a car to someone without a driver's license.

I had a bad week last week. I know what you mean about the foot. Mine is finally feeling better after slipping on my ceramic tile and twisting it.

In Ohio you have to show your license, but they'll take your word for it that you have insurance. I hate to say this, but it's lawyer time!

to you and your DS. Ouch! Can you get to a jacuzzi? The water may be very theraputic to your mucles. Also, don't forget to buy a new carseat for your DS. It will be covered by insurance and should definitely be replaced. Feel better soon!

I'm pretty sure in Florida you do have to show license and proof of insurance. I can't believe that Avis didn't check for these.

The pain meds worked last night, I think because I was so exhausted. I took one this morning and it doesn't seem to be helping much. I hurt!

My grandfather used to be a predominant lawyer here and is retired now but still has a number of good lawyer friends. One of whom is the best injury lawyer in the county. Apparently he's already been in touch with him. I'm so nieve when it comes to this stuff that I am basically clueless. Who do you sue? Do I seriously expect to get anything out of this and from who? My car is screwed.. I need a car and really can't afford to buy a new one right now. Will our insurance go up even though the accident wasn't my fault? How long am I looking at going without a car? I can't even think about that right now since I see myself in bed for awhile but I can't just go without a car. I don't think our policy includes a rental for accidents? See, i'm clueless!!

And yes, the baby needs a new carseat.... ugh! How do I go about that one? Buy it and insurance reimburses?

I sure hope you are feeling better soon. That sounds horrible. I am glad you have someone working on the insurance issue for you. Take it easy and relax for now.

If I were you I would replace the car seat and submit the bill to whichever insurance is convering the claim.

Contact your insurance company to see how to handle the car, the car seat, etc. The accident wasnt your fault, so your insurance should not go up. I was in an accident that was heavily disputed over who's fault it was, and my mom had a check for the car within a week or two of the accident (car was totaled)
