Was free dining a one time thing?

Was I dreaming, or did a travel agent on this board say a few weeks ago that there's "possible" talk of bringing free dining back this fall?? I know that if there was, dh would go back in a minute. If not, there's no Disney in our future. I could very well have dreampt the whole thing. ;) Anyone know? TIA! :wizard:

Sorry I don't know. But it wouldn't surprise me if they did. I think a lot of people took advantage of that program and it helped during what is normally a "slow" period for Disney. A draw to encourage guests to visit during hurricane season.
The only problem for us...it was too hot AND humid. I mean really humid, some days @ 100%. It was more uncomfortable than anything but having the FREE dining plan was the trade off. Not sure I could do it again though.

I am hoping you weren't dreaming!! I've always held on to the hope that they would offer it again, however, a lot of Disney know-it-alls (not derogatory) say that they offer up a new deal every year, and rarely, if ever, do they repeat the same offer.

I have to agree with PP, the humidity and heat were RIDICULOUS!!! I was miserable most of the time (real wuss when it comes to having proper body temp). But we did get annual water park passes, so I guess it wasn't all bad.

We are going in May, and DH already gave the green light to book again if free dining comes back...fingers crossed!! :wizard:

Well, from what I've heard, there is a persistent rumour within the travel industry that the free dining would be offered again. I'm with the other posters who mentioned the rain and humidity -- but free dining is quite a reason to visit. And, the crowds seemed moderate to heavy, so Disney did something right from a sales perspective I think.

Most of January and early February seems to be another downtime at the parks/resorts -- would be better for me (and my desire to escape cold weather!) if they'd offer free dining then...but I understand I may not be their target market :-)

Thanks everyone! I'll try to continue waiting patiently (or not so patiently! hehe). Our problem is that we want to take a trip this summer. If there's a chance of free dining in the fall, we'd try to keep our summer vacation down in cost so that we can still do Disney. Otherwise, I want to make the most of our summer trip!

FYI - I posted the same question on the dining board. The consensus there is that the free dining WON'T be back, but there's still hope for good deals (though not as good as free dining).

Personally, I preferred the responses you all gave me on this thread! ;)

Was it hot and humid in the fall? Or did I misunderstand! LOL!! We went in July and it was HOOOOOTTTTT!!! But we lived thru it!!! LOL!!!

would love to do the free dining too cuz got a lota kids!!! lol

I just booked with my TA, a package deal that includes the dining. My trip isn't until October, so guess it's still offered.
